sorry forgot to enter that ! Both valves opened, when i put the radiator back onto the fixings i firstly opened up the flow direction valve first in an attempt to fill the radiator. when this didnt work i opened up the other valve. still no joy. Its almost as if the radiator isnt filling with...

one upstairs radiator not heating up properly, tried bleeding, short hiss, silence then nothing. removed radiator and gave it a good flushing out, checking the bleeder at the same time which vented. put radiator back on and switched on again a short hiss then nothing, no air no water!! only...
