    Cabling loads

You'll be glad to know I had an electrician around to look at the place on Friday, and unfortunately he's recommended ripping out the entire system(Except for the cabling I did for the cooker ;)). If any of you remember my electrifying light switch, he says that's because there's no earths...

    Cabling loads

I *really* hate electrics. The funny thing is, at the moment we have a second fuse box in the extension, and the sockets in the kitchen are wired from that back into the kitchen(Which is the back room of the house), so I was actually trying to make it safer. For a temporary fix(Until I can...

    Cabling loads

Now that makes more sense. Thank you for the response, I can kind of understand that, allthough it's not the answer I wanted.. I was hoping more for a, "Well, if it was 'allready there' when you moved in, then you could....".. I take it your all to responsible to do that, and I'll just have...

    Cabling loads

I changed that so it wasn't quite to strongly worded :P I know you guys are only trying to help, but seriously, I'm not the sort of person that just takes a "Hey, you cant understand this" and walks away with that. If I have to snag a books on electrics and learn all this crap I will, or take...

    Cabling loads

I want to install 2 plug sockets, and your telling me I have to pay an electrician to do that? It might help if you actually explained why I cant do this myself, or what information i'm missing, if I understood why I cant do this then I'd be a lot happier about it. This is just a single...

    Cabling loads

I didn't realise I had a "problem", I thought I was asking a question? I really dont see the point of having an electrical forum on a DIY website(Note, Do It Yourself), and then having you suggest I just pay someone else to do it. I dont want an electrician, I want you to give me the advice...

    Cabling loads

I just found the manual, so heres all it says... Fuse rating 13 AMP supply - 230-240V, 50hz max power 2150W(240V) Grill Power 1800W(240V) Oven power 2100W (240V) It is just an oven with built-in grill, but I got one of those boxes that has a cooker switch and a socket on it as...

    Cabling loads

Uhmm, not sure if its volts or amps for the cooker, either way it should normally be 40 for a cooker, but mine was only 15(Hopefully you can figure out which it is). But the cooker has been fine, I've had that wired in for months and I went to an electrical trade shop my dad uses and got some...

    Cabling loads

I bought and installed a 40a cable for my cooker, but after actually getting the cooker I found out it was only rated at 15v. So, I'm wondering if it is ok to put that cable(And the cooker) on a 15v connection in the fusebox and run 2 or 3 plug sockets off the cable as well as the cooker...

    Wierd wiring problem

I've now discovered that I only get a shock from the light switch when we stand on the bare concrete floor.... And it's not as bad as I initially thought, it just seemed a lot worse than it was :P However, my wife is finding it annoying, so I've been given permission to get an electrician...

    Wierd wiring problem

Hm, I've always wondered about this.. If the work required that large sections of plaster of floorboards had to come up, how would the electrician decide what to do? I mean, he wont just go ahead and break everything, but if he's allready quoted for the cost and come out to do the work, how...

    Wierd wiring problem

If I was to get a "spark" to come in and fix my electrics, would they repair any damage they have to do to the house? Such as plaster work and ripped up floorboards? I'm just not sure what to expect, and there's no way the wife will let me make any more mess in the house..

    Wierd wiring problem

Ok, some more details to defuse this situation then. I have only found 2 cables that are using old rubber, and there both connected to the lights(One of them is a plug socket I disconnected *ahem*). I suppose there could be other cables around that I cant see, but having replaced every light...

    Wierd wiring problem

Seriously, is there any need for that kind of childish sniping? As I have mentioned many times before, I cannot get the wiring replaced. I dont know how to impress this into your tiny minds any more. I Cannot Get The Wiring Replaced Comprende'? It aint hard. It cant come out. I...

    Wierd wiring problem

It would seem that my problem was just static build-up.. I've dumped the old nasty nylon ones, and had new cotton carpets fitted and the problems have stopped completely. No walls ripped out, or cabling replaced.
