    I understand your point, however the floorboards are all uneven beneath the carpet and the property is rented therefore it may be removed 12-18 months from now.

    I am due to be laying a laminate floor this weekend and currently have a carpet in the room. I have been advised to lay the floor directly on top of the carpet as it is a thinnish carpet. Is this wise? Or is it advisable to remove the carpet.
