Both rcd,s tripping with faulty light switch

Update, this borrowed neutral is a spur from the nearest socket to this wall light, if I got an electrician to move the lighting circuit onto the same rcd as the house sockets, would this solve the issue?

Both rcd,s tripping with faulty light switch

Would this happen if the neutral set in the wall is coming from a socket on the ring main which is on the other rcd?

Both rcd,s tripping with faulty light switch

Yes it’s a new consumer unit installed in a house we bought by previous owners, my dad was an electrician many years ago so he checked the neutrals on the board

Both rcd,s tripping with faulty light switch

All neutrals on the correct bars, looking at previous threads it looks like that neutral in the wall is probably the issue

Both rcd,s tripping with faulty light switch

I have consumer unit with 2 rcd circuits Please see rather crude drawing. When I switch the second switch on it trips both rcd,s if there is no bulb in it doesn’t trip and also if I put a tester across the bulb holder that lights but doesn’t trip. Why does it trip both circuits? The neutral...

    Comissioning vitodens 050

Hi,just installed a vitodens 050 I forgot to purge the gas line first and not sure whether that affected it but it would not complete the flue gas test see error codes. Purged the pipes but now it’s telling me “test already done “ and then when I try to re commission it throws up same error...

Flushing a 40 year old untouched heating system

Yes, getting rid of the 25 year old multi point as well, no worries about the plumbing, I’ve done a lot. When you say “mains pressure” The boilers must have a governor to regulate the pressure going through the system as no mains pressure is the same. If it finds leaks I’ll fix it, no...

Flushing a 40 year old untouched heating system

I am having my 40 year old free standing boiler replaced with a new combi. This system was installed using fernox inhibitor from new and no work has ever been done on the water side and so it is the same water as at the start. (Apart from top up for bleeding) It is a heating only boiler with an...

    Tape, paste or nothing?

Ah, my apologies I see what you mean now, that that is literally a ring of ptfe. I thought there was a gap in the thread but maybe not. The top one is a pressure gauge and the bottom one is a fill adapter, both off a new boiler.

    Tape, paste or nothing?

I know my photos are bad but you may need to have a closer look

    Tape, paste or nothing?

Could you tell me if these fittings in the photo require ptfe tape or paste on any part of the thread as they have a rubber washer within the thread so I assume not. Thank you
