The plasterboard is on the other side and yes I suppose it will but surely coating with SBR before fixing will trap any moisture even more.

If you using foam adhesive to stick plasterboard to a low section of wall do you really need SBR on the wall first? . Really don’t want to seal the wall as I have a breathable lime finish on other side.
