Ok. It was all done by a competent, qualified electrician who designed, installed, tested and certified it. All permissions were sought and appropriate authorities notified. But that was some time ago. Recently some thieves broke into the shed and damaged the plastic light switch and the...

Hi, thanks for the reply. I see what you mean about the RCD. Inside the house, the RCD for the shed has a test button but in the shed, what I thought was the RCD just says DP on it so I'm guessing it's just a double pole MCB? Should there be an RCD at this end too? The whole light switch...

Yes, yes, yes & yes to all the points above. But John hit the nail on the head really. Although the CU might be unnecessary, I was looking for safe & adequate. Thanks, Roy.

They've come back to me and said that it should have an earth on it but they've just opened up another one and found the same thing. They're sending me a suitable replacement. Thanks again guys, I will sort the problems you've mentioned. Cheers.

Sorry, I don't have a photo of that. I know it's on a 13A 30mA breaker. The house is only 4 years old so I assume that part is all good. It came from http://www.candselectricalltd.com/ Should I ask them what the deal is?

I must have bought old stock then? unless it's counterfeit? I'll look into that. It's on a 13A fuse and 30mA breaker. I's only a small shed with one light and one socket so I hope that's ok? Thanks again for your help.

It came already built like that with the MCBs in, the bus bar fitted and neutral wired to the terminals.

No offence taken, I've not done this before so I'm looking for advice. The house is on an RCD, the shed is on it's own RCD and there is a DP RCD in the consumer unit. The switch says it's WK and made in the UK :?: :?: :?:

I didn't twist the ends, I've not heard of that being done before! I used a ratchet crimper so that should be ok. I would have used a block if I had one TBH. In my first photo, you can see the back of the faceplate. There's just a COMM. terminal on the right, L1 on the left that I have a...

Thanks for the fast replies. the circuit is so short that there won't be any pulling on the cable so hopefully that won't be an issue. Here is another photo to show how short the circuit is (the bulb holder is just out of shot): There is nowhere to put an earth lead to the switch...

Hello! I've just wired up this switch and was wondering if it's ok? I've used a 10amp crimp connector (heatshrink + glue) on the neutral as I didn't have a connector block. It's for a 30W bulb on a 6A MCB using 1mm T&E. I've not wired up a switch before so I hope it's ok...
