Agile/Tony. Having just reviewed all the posts on this thread I note that you have not made any remarks towards me that were in any way derogatory or abusive. Please accept my unreserved apology for wrongly including you in my 'robust' response against those who I considered insulted me...
Dan allow me to quote you:- "Call a Gas Safe registered engineer and try not to sound like a smart ar********"
If you don't think that's a rude arrogant insult then...well go figure, it speaks volumes about you!
U6, Thank you for your insight into Agiles background. From his comments he clearly cannot grasp the simple fact that this post ONLY turned adversarial/abusive when Dan WITHOUT ANY provocation whatsoever posted derogatorty comments and ended up insulting me. Duh!
These pair of conceited and...
As for a flue gas analyser Danny boy! Ooooohhh yeh very complicated. Ha! The average smart phone is harder to use and interpret. If I need to post again go crayon your books and let the grown ups answer eh?
Hi Tony. For the record, I'm waaay beyond a DIY'r. My dad was a plumber/heating engineer and I worked with him from about the age of 5 (in 1960!) in his workshop and on jobs!(child slave labour!!!) I can sweat copper to lead using moleskin and tallow..anyone remember those days!! I fitted...
James. The boiler was from a property that had been extended with additional rads hence needed a bigger boiler. It's now fitted in a small modern flat (no bath just wet room/shower) and just five rads to cope with.
The boiler was fitted during a renovation but not used/tested until a couple...
The ultra reliable? Intergas 24/18 has started locking out with a code 4 listed. Works OK on both DHW and CH for a while then just locks out again. On resetting will fire up and seems OK but eventually locks out again sometimes after a minute or so other time after a good hour or more. Clearly...
I say 'fault' in inverted commas because it's probably not a fault. Boiler: Intergas 24/18 delivers DHW superbly, but not firing on Central Heating. The boiler is second hand and was removed from a property that had a large extension and was underpowered for the additional rads.
The boiler...
That's right Tony I have both boards, the Honywell one is the supposed unreliable one? and in fact I notice burn marks where several resistors have over heated and scorched the PCB...never a good design point!
The other board when fitted causes the lockout LED to light up so I have to assume...
The ignition board was causing the lockout! Despite having all the same connections it was a different board so I put the honeywell one back on and out went the lockout LED.
The boiler attempted to fire up but no spark/ignition. I poured over the manual and went through the ignition sequence...
Ok experts, are you ready for a headache..or perhaps help cure mine and point out the fix. I'll try and keep this simple and precise.
The above boiler began cycling off and on and would not supply DHW unless CH dial was turned up (ie central heating on full)
This eventually led to the...
OK Thanks for everyones help. The pump WAS faulty. The fault was as I indicated in my very first post (nothing to do with wear as such) but water had somehow found it's way into the housing.
I went to B & Q and discovered that their cheapest pump was virtually identical (the impeller was...
Can be a pain though that Boiler. Having owned two they were OK for a while but played up every winter. I came to hate them. The manual pilot is the better of the two (less to go wrong) but the modulator board has basic design flaws. Best of luck with it!
Bob Do you still have that used Wilo pump. I need one for a Biasi 24S. If not how much is a new pumphead (I don't need the plastic section that it bolts to, just the pump itself)
