thankyou i will try that because today the pump is running normally for whatever reason and there are no noises at all, as when the pump only works for a few seconds when the boiler ignites thats when the noises strart. I let it cool down for an hour yesterday and when i switched it back on...

I have just moved house and find the lighting circuit strange, no twin and earth just single core with earth and three red wires going to most light switches. house built in the 1970\\\'s this normal? I have to sort out these wires. thanks
