Yeah thought of that and no obvious info on the one I took out and don’t fancy repeating on all of them - it’s circa 1991 so very aged and potentially the company will have disappeared by now.
thanks for suggestion though…
I need to replace a section of cladding/soffit in my conservatory after curing a leak
It's an aged unit but will do until we replace either 2022/2023
I would like to replace the length of cladding to keep the Mrs happy but I don't know what this type of cladding is called?
Any help? Link to a...
but if TRV is open would this be the cause? Unless it’s heating up and closing but I’ve also been using without thermostat bit connected so pin fully out.
I’ve fed water though it and it does flow as expected
So after 1:15 of x800 pumping around - I drained the black stuff quite literally- this system has never been cleaned I am guessing or had inhibitor installed.
flushed it a few times and gave up - I’ve opened all the rads bled them and stuck some x100 in for good measure.
Re-pope looks to be...
Right ... an update !!
installed a magnetic thingy on the return
The pipe (22mm) when I had it open was filthy inside black soot like substance on my finger after inserting
Filled and drained whole system twice
Had TRV off again - definitely works and is definitely open
Attached bike pump to...
With the TRV the flow isn't great so we've ruled that out I think
Well I've ordered some X800, filling kit (To limit the spread of the stuff!), and a Magnetic thingy for the return path
Collection on Tuesday
Will install the Magnetic thing first then try 50% of the X800 with a single rad for a...
All other rads are fully isolated at present - There is as much as there can be I believe going to the faulty one which is still lukewarm or 46deg on the top!
So million $ question now ... assuming I've not got a crushed pipe somewhere (cannot think I would have given no other works in the...
it has (TRV) and yes the rad is warming up a little - Top of rad is now 46deg using a temp gun and outlet area nearer 31deg given the flow rate but this is warmer than it started at :-)
going to leave it whilst I go shopping (and before the Mrs kills me for leaving toolboxes all over the...
So left everything as per above 17 mins later I have a little heat (not hot) in the problematic rad - assume because on the trickle of water getting through rather than residual heat warming the pipe work and the rad - it is minimal and the outlet pipe still cold
OK I’ve :
Isolated all the rads
Drained the system
The opened the inlet to the problem rad and then the bleed - little if any air sucking noise!
Then opened the outlet and you guessed it air suck as water drained.
Then closed the outlet and brought pressure back to 2 bar - very little air noise...
no the TRV was off the pipe completely
We did the bike pump after this to try clear it - the pressure released a little bit from the pump side we thought this was because it is not 100% blocked although very close!
I was in the garage with the filling loop adding pressure - he told me just a trickle of water was getting through with 1.5bar pressure behind it! All the other rads at this point bar a couple we open.
The plumber who did the test tried the boiler running without the TRV connected and you could blow through it as the water would pass without a problem.
yes the rad used to heat very well and certainly did earlier in he year winter/spring. Conversation was probably done mid 90’s to mid 00’s...
Thanks Terry - will try this tomorrow.
when I had a plumber here earlier in the week for a brief look (mate of a mate who was driving past) there was very little water flowing out of the TRV when he had it disconnected from the rad - hence the trickle view in original post.
With the valve...
I've presently got all rads other than the Problematic one isolated with the left and right valves.
I've turned the heating on and nothing...
Assume this means a definite blockage rather than imbalance :-(
