Our UFH system was installed around 10-15 years ago but I don’t think the previous owners did anything much to maintain it. There are a couple of bathroom radiators in the system as well. We moved in two years ago but haven’t been able to find a plumber/engineer locally to service it. Luckily it...
Thanks to everyone for your advice last winter. When the ASHP engineer returned to check their installation they solved the problem, so far as I can tell. As I understood it there was another pump on the return piping from the UFH circuit that the control panel wasn’t programmed to activate...
The lagged central pipe exiting the top of the cylinder. It has a stop cock on it marked ”hot water” where the copper pipe transitions to white plastic - it then disappears into the screed floor . There is a buffer tank in the attic above.
Thanks snb 1 - that bedroom was indeed up to temperature so yes, it should be off.
I have checked the small black indicator on the side of both manifold pumps and they are both set to max - 3.
I think that the flow and return pipes to the second further manifold are teed off just downstream of...
So…photo overload - the 1st shows the mixer valve (?) next to the manifold in the upper part of the house. This seems to opened and closed fairly frequently (the noise is quite noticeable).
2nd shows the manual for the unit above that manifold visible in picture 4.
Pic 5 shows the pump next to...
Sorry to mislead - I accidentally typed “boiler end of the house” in my original post (cause that’s where it used to be) - I should have been more clear.
And yes, all heating settings, thermostats, rooms have been static for the past few days now. I will try and post pictures of the two manifolds...
Thanks for your replies. I’ve had both circuits running for a few days now for things to stabilise before updating this thread. I‘ve also been monitoring the temp’s of inlet and outlet of both manifolds to get a better idea of what’s going on. Another thing - the UFH used to run of an oil fired...
Thanks for your reply. I think the first high dT you mention may have been due to that manifold having very little flow due to us turning down its thermostats in the hope of sending more hot water to the manifold that’s too cool. With all the room stats now set at 20 pipe temps are now - Upper...
Help needed with our UFCH - half our house is cold!
A year ago we moved into a barn conversion that was completed around 2012. It’s a long low stone building built into a Welsh hillside with only one room upstairs that’s heated by 2 conventional radiators. The whole ground floor is heated by...
