Thanks a million!! it worked, I got up to 1.2 bar. The left knob caused a little bit of a trickling of water onto the ground but otherwise it didn't change the bar too quickly so I was able to get exactly 1.2 and the trickling stopped when tap was closed.

You are correct there are these two black knobs below,are they used for topping up the pressure,if so, how? Thanks for the info about the receiver,I was a bit worried about it being serious,that's a relief!
