Thanks all. I went through the metal and it’s all sorted, looks okay too. As an aside, I have really horrible nasty Chinese metal drill bits, most are useless, some from B&Q, some from China.

Unfortunately when I drill into the side of the window panel, I hit metal. Do I use a metal drill to deepen the hole, or drill a new hole in the bracket? Thanks. Of course the ideal is a hinge that fits. I think these were Anglian windows, fitted 25+ years ago.

Thank you. I came here to ask about replacing a broken hinge. One of the screw holes does not line up, now I know that is normal. Do I need to drill a pilot hole in the uPVC and if so what size? I assume I do.

I would not want to hire you, so I would not pay your eponymous tax. The trades I hire are very helpful and professional, as are most people on this forum, in fact some are incredibly helpful. When a trade tells me that every job is different and avoids any details, I walk.

There’s more than enough installed to prove that they can and do work, when properly installed of course. Regarding solar installation costs, are you referring to the installation labour costs excluding the panel cost, or the total cost? The price of panels has plummeted, so it is no surprise...
