    its a rustic house in spanish mountains - we don't have regulations up here..... i'm thinking to mix some fire clay and cement and just plug the hole.......but a little more research needed.

    I can't really afford twin wall flue......how about these options..... 1) Larger Terracota pipe around the flue - and fill between the pipes with fireproof mortar? 2) Larger Metal pipe around the flue " " 3) Either of the above with fibreglass insulation in the gap?

    Thanks for this - yes, I am going to go through the wall.....ok...some Qs. Can i do 45 degrees through the wall? Or is the cutting too difficult so I have to go 90 degrees through the wall (less draw)? Why do i need a double walled pipe? Surely some concrete around the pipe will be fine...

    forgive me, i am not too good at DIY, but if i use a "concrete foundation," then surely, how is that attached to the ground (hard soil) ? that itself would be cement onto the ground would it not?
