    Replace analog timer?

I am planning on using that Siemens RWB29si programmer. I already have that fitted to a backplate and another plate to be able to bolt to the boiler. So the physical side of things is completed. Just the electric side of things to do. Looking at the picture of the connector blocks, they...

    Replace analog timer?

I think I have already stated that gas is still cheaper for me for HW only. I am happy to keep it as it has always been, HW only or HW&CH. I do not have any motorised valves, nor a tank thermostat? The temp of the water is controlled by a white knob with values 1 to 6 (or so I believe). I...

    Replace analog timer?

Ok, I think, now looking at this picture, I am in a pretty good place? All I need to do is wire the new programmer exactly like this picture.

    Replace analog timer?

I know the feeling. :( My memory is shot these days. Yes, I have 4 wires. 1 is the power from a 3 pin mains socket. 2 is power to the pump on the wall adjacent to the boiler. 3 is a lead that goes to what I thought was the igniter, but now not so sure. Will take a pic tomorrow. 4 I believe is...

    Replace analog timer?

Well I have been upfront with a few electricians about what I have and what I want, and none want to touch it. I have looked a little bit further, by taking the cover off the old programmer and can see that no wires go to L2 as far as coming into the programmer. That was the line that...

    Replace analog timer?

I went looking to see how that sideplate comes off. Not sure about those on the right? Google AI has advised me that the programmer is actually a Myson integrated boiler programmer and has given me as below for wiring instructions. The Correct Wiring Conversion Map To bypass the old internal...

    Replace analog timer?

Here is the end of the programmer where all the wires are fixed into it. From the little I know, L2 and L3 when connected give me HW only? ChatGPT does have a good point, re testing with a muli meter for HW only and then HW&CH and see what each terminal puts out in those positions.

    Replace analog timer?

OK, I decided to ask ChatGPT, and it was very helpful. However I would like a human to confirm if it is correct as it has been wrong before with me, on something I do know.:) Attached is our dialogue, well it's response, as my intercation is not kept, but it was pretty succinct anyway. TIA...

    Replace analog timer?

I think L2 - L3 is HW only? L1 - L3 is CH & HW. I do need DHW on it's own for summer. The programmer failed again today, did not move. Now it is moving again. I have those figures you asked for. On the 29th I put the immersion on for 30 mins. Sufficient for a bath. Electric units...

    Replace analog timer?

Going on the assumption that I am on the C plan, would you be able to give me the wiring instructions please? I believe L2 would also need to go to 3?, but electrics has never been my strong point.

    Replace analog timer?

Me too. That is why I have used the gas for years. I will monitor my immersion heater for, let's say 1 hour per day. That should be enough for my hot water. I will then put the boiler back on and see what it uses for 24 hours. Of course it uses a little anyway when off, due to the pilot light. I...

    Replace analog timer?

No, the gas meter is just units. I have to apply the factor to get the KWh. I would expect even I have a thermostat buried in the hotwater tank, so that reading was whilst it was heating the water to whatever temperature it does. I will try and get readings for the gas when I put it back on for...

    Replace analog timer?

My Electricity is 25p per KWh. My Gas is 7p per unit. I just switched on my immersion heater and it appears to use 2.9KW, so is going to cost more than 30p a day if left on? I am going to experiment with switching it on and off as required and leave my boiler off for the moment.

    Replace analog timer?

Thank you for the calculations. I have no off peak supply. I will give it a go as well. I have an Owl monitor that I have used for years, so can monitor the supply that way, as I tend to be around 0.4kwph with just the basics on plus TV and laptop. Another option to take.

    Replace analog timer?

I am in Swansea. My immersion heater is directly plugged into the wall, unlike the boiler. So I could change it to a normal 3 pin socket?, and then use a smart plug as mentioned for the boiler. I am between Swansea and Llanelli. Gorseinon in fact.
