    You will never loose the lines unfortunately unless the paper has been hung 'perfectly' which is very rare.     Silicone filler may be used as this never cures. However you cannot paint it! Caulk must never be used as this eventually hardens thus causing cracking. Use good old fashioned putty for the best results!

    Planemad and Simonpolly hit the nail on the head. Don't waste your money on the must use this and that products. All I will add is that if this is a bathroom or kitchen I would use silk or semi silk paint for the final coat due to exposure to dampness.

    Try relining horizontally not vertically on the bad walls. Failing that, once the paint has fully cured use polyfiller but mix it with powder not ready mixed, and fill the joints. A light sand should be enough to hide the gaps. PS use a very light sand paper or you will tear the paper. HTH
