Making up the level is fine, always have to do it myself (to a point) just get the mix right use some sharp sand with the soft and it'll be fine. Looks a neat job to me, don't worry about rain it'll be fine

Well I can try......i guess it's repairing one panel at a time then...... triggers broom springs to mind!

I have always knocked them in, a good tight fit and you should be ok, not had one fall out yet.....

When it tips out it can 'settle' so looks different. Compact it and see, if its solid is it a problem? It's not the finished surface.......

I suppose that's correct, but what are the implications of no cavity, no vapor barrier etc. Must be a reason we no longer build like this? Any thoughts?
