Conservatory foundations and base in heavy dry clay soil.

The land around my house is well drained and is made up of heavy clay which appears to be very stable, but is difficult to dig. As an example, where I put in a step, there remained a thin gap, about 12 inches deep and 3 inches wide with the step one side and clay soil the other, where I had dug...

    Vaillant ecotec618 VRC470 VR61/3

I have a Vaillant ecotec 618 system boiler and unistore DHW, installed 2010. I am interested in exploring the concept of separate temperature control between the radiators and hot water. Whilst looking at the VRC470 and VR61/3, I understand these will only work on boilers manufactured...

Halstead Eden VBX30 code 7 after water leak

I have a Halstead Eden VBX30. Last week, the RCD tripped in the fuse box. I traced it to the central heating circuit, and finally to the boiler, causing the fault. As I removed one of the case screws on the underside, a stream of water started coming out. (This is the second time this...

HepVo and discharge from unvented cylinder

powell30....... I do understand that and abide by that by using a tried and tested plumber who has the unvented ticket. However, my tried and tested plumber never told me about the HepVo option, but there again, he has not put in as much layout thought as I have. So , my questions on this...

HepVo and discharge from unvented cylinder

Hello The following pdf document states that you can discharge from an unvented hot water cylinder, via a HepVo into a soil stack. http://www.nhbc.co.uk/NHBCPublications/LiteratureLibrary/Technical/StandardsExtra/filedownload,34921,en.pdf The pdf document states: "Discharge...

    MDPE mains water into Loft

Can I use MDPE pipe for mains water within the house (under floors, behind covers) up into the loft, to feed an unvented cylinder? Or do I have to use PEX if I do not want to use copper (because of cost)?

    Discharge pipework from system boiler

Thank you again, muggles. I agree, 'should' was the wrong word to use. I now know the mode of failure, and can simulate that to ensure my idea works reliably. The ultimate test will be satisfying my installer. I know he is not awkward but merely goes by the book - when it comes to safety...

    Discharge pipework from system boiler

Thank you muggles for your reply. Point 1, I understand you about the drip drip. My idea should be able to react to that. Dare I say better than an external discharge pipe where the drip drip would have most likely evaporated off the pathway before I realised there was a fault? Is...

    Discharge pipework from system boiler

I am having further thoughts on this. I have spoken to my plumbing chap who has the unvented ticket. I asked him about curling the discharge pipe close by the wall exit so that it points back into the wall. His preference is for a pipe that runs down the wall, stops near the bottom, and...

    Discharge pipework from system boiler

Thank you all for your advice. It looks like it has to be outside then. Can I use just one external 22mm pipe into which both internal tundishes connect to?

    Discharge pipework from system boiler

I was thinking along the viewable lines, and have the discharge pipes go into a 2 inch waste to the stack. The 22mm dischrge pipe would be a loose fit into a 50-32-22mm reducer, so that smells would not exit, but the assembly could be lifted for viewing.

    Discharge pipework from system boiler

Hello - safety discharge pipework from a system boiler or an unvented hot water cylinder: Right next to where I plan to have a system boiler and unvented hot water cylinder (in the loft) is the 100mm stink pipe, which is fitted internally. After the tundishes, can the discharge pipework...

    Boiler Overheats

I will check the pump. Once the system is up to temperature, and the return to the boiler is hot (there is no room stat!) the boiler will not light, naturally. I can control the point the boiler lights by using the front panel thermostat, so I guess that is OK.

    Boiler Overheats

The pump does sound as if it is pumping more water when I increase the speed setting. Especially so having just refilled the system whilst air is still present. I have not flushed the system since adding the cleanser. I do plan to drain and flush the system in a few days and perform the...

    Boiler Overheats

Just moved house. Boiler is Glowworm Fuelsaver Mk2. Previous owner had a service contract; the last service said everything was OK but a system flush was recommended. CH (up and down stairs) and HW all appear fine, although the boiler will overheat and shut off. After 30 seconds or so...
