    Acceptable standard: professional skirting install

Thats just a shadow, the rest of the work is to a good standard, nicely joined and sanded where needed. Hoping this is just an oversight, but as he's not been paid yet we will see... Thanks for the feedback, will update with his response.

    Acceptable standard: professional skirting install

Thanks for confirmation. If it was damaged after fitting it was by the carpenter, I saw it when they'd left. Didn't inspect whilst they were here as not finished yet.

    Acceptable standard: professional skirting install

Morning all, Just had a chap to hang door, skirting and architrave. Generally very happy with the work but a few runs of skirting are damaged, photo below. He's back this afternoon so will have a chat, but for a sanity check, this isn't an acceptable standard to leave a job is it? I'm willing...

Connecting mains water supply to a new location

Afternoon all, I'm planning ahead to replace the lead water supply with MDPE, but stuck on where to attach the new supply. Existing supply goes to a stopcock in the kitchen, but the pipe is laid beneath the concrete floor. Rather than connect the new supply to the same point, I'm thinking of...

Can you use two posts? Or fix some timber to the end the panel at the correct angle to slot into the post.

    Replace door lining or not...

1930s renovation, will be replacing all internal doors. Currently back to bare orignal stud wall, door opening is 750mm wide and 1980mm from lining to floorboards. The gap in the stud wall would allow a bigger lining to be fitted, but the width of the stud wall timber is 80mm, plus drywall and...

    Blown plaster: back to laths

So the plasterer has said try to keep what there is, as it'll be more cost effective. I've been pulling blown and loose plaster off the laths, there's still sections in the middle where it's springy and I've not yet started on the other wall. At what point do I say enough is enough and just...

    Blown plaster: back to laths

Well, the other walls aren't so good either... most of the plaster came off by hand. At least I didn't need to get the wall paper off that wall.

    Blown plaster: back to laths

I'm yet to see what the other wall are like but I suspect very similar. Corner room so only two internal walls, the other two are onto brickwork and seem solid. Plaster is approx. 15mm.

    Blown plaster: back to laths

Afternoon all, 1930s house, upstairs rooms and prepping for new ceilings, so back to joists, and walls for a skim. As wallpaper is coming off its revealing quite a lot of blown plaster, loose back to the laths. What are my options here? Strip all back, remove laths and put new boards on...

Glass shower screen - profiled floor

Thanks, hadn't though about cutting into it. I assume there some sort of backing shape against the wall to hold the shape?

Glass shower screen - profiled floor

Evening all, Looking to replace the shower curtain for a glass screen in what was once an accessible shower room. The floor is the vinyl wet room type stuff with a profiled edge, as per the photo. All the glass screens I've seen have a flat bottom, what options do I have here? Only one I can...

Old ceiling joists: sagging and lack of wall plate

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. Will look to sort the insulation before the boarding is completed. Ref. Counter batons, fixing 1x2 at 400mm centres perpendicular to the joists, as although the joists are 600mm, some are irregular. That's from what plasterer has asked.
