Thanks for your reply. That’s a good idea. I am not sure exactly which type of textured wallpaper but was hoping not to be painting it. I was wondering if I can just go round the internal corner with one length and just butt up against the edge with the next length on the adjacent wall.
I hired a plumber to help. His immersion heater spanners also did not fit. He was quite confused. Got it out with a wrench in the end and put in a standard replacement from screw fix.

Just my luck then. I’ve never removed one before. All ready to try to get it out and hoping I am not going to break the tank and none of the standard immersion spanners fit.
I am not at the flat atm so can’t get a photo. The spanner’s that I’ve tried are definitely meant for immersion heater. The ones from screw fix etc. They aren’t a lot too small, may be just a couple of mm but enough so they won’t go onto the nut at all. They fit the replacement immersion element...
