Thanks for that suggestion. Plumber is going to install a pressure activated shower pump. Since tank can't be raised and head to kitchen tap is 200mm a pump was only feasible solution. Should give me at least 1 bar pressure.

I had a similar thought this week. Gravity feed hot water. Pressure is appalling. I'll check the plumbing threads though.

Why not replace the switch with a fused spur unit and then run as many sockets off that as you like. Regulations say an "unlimited" number of sockets can be run from a fused spur. The shower cable would go in the "FEED" and the sockets you want to install would be supplied from "LOAD"...

Good point. If it is a rewirable fuse, perhaps consider a plug-in mcb? More reliable tripping and less likely to damage his cable.

Can new heights be imposed retrospectively on existing installations? i.e. If I wire a socket, am I therefore obliged to raise the height of all the sockets in the house and change the heights of the switches as well? It seems OP is being asked to do work that satisfy's some regulation...
