Hi Just a quick update - not much further forward! Winther Browne Suggested test again after running fire for 20 mins. Our Gas Chap tested it running for 20 mins with a CM censor also. He got the same result, spillage from the very edge. He then decided to open a window, same result...

so it sounds as though it would be beneficial to have the flue surveyed and if any probelms have them rectified. We were going to cap it and have electric fire , wish we bloody had now :)

No, he thought it as fine. The old fire passed ok last may . . . If we were to get the flue swept & inspected, is it expensive? I am still puzzled by the difference of opinion between gas fitter & BRITISH GAS

We weren't getting BG to check his work, it was a pre organised landlord safety check. We pay a monthly premium for british gas to look after gas & electrics in the property & conduct annual check.

Thanks The Gas man purchased the fire for us after he had been to the property to assess the opening dimensions & flue etc. The property was built in 89 and we had a very similar fire in for 19yrs which passed last yrs gas saferty inspection. I will mention this but will be frustrated...

Thanks Kev Will try and arrange it. It just seems to be dragging on, meanwhile we are £500 lighter and have a fire with a big condemned sticker across it !! Its frustrating that their isn't one standard
