    Ariston Microgenus boiler misfiring

Thanks Agyle, the model is Microgenus II 24 MFFI. It was serviced a couple of years ago, so I guess another service wouldn't hurt... Can anything explain that it only plays up in cold weather?

    Ariston Microgenus boiler misfiring

I have a 4-5 year old Ariston boiler which works perfectly in the summer, but intermittently misfires during cold weather in the winter months. The symptom: the gas valve opens and closes almost immediately. The cycle repeats itself a few times until the boiler locks up, displays an...

    Programmable Room Thermostat

Yes, that's exactly what cycling is, it happens often in mild weather when the room temperature goes down slowly or oscillates around the programmed temperature. To overcome cycling, all electronic thermostats implement either a temperature hysteresis (ie threshold between the on & off...

    Programmable Room Thermostat

Watch out for those Heatmiser thermostats, they don't have any anti-cycle function and end up calling for heat on & off in sub-second intervals in some situations. Not good for your boiler pump, diverter & gas valves :( Mentioned it a couple of years ago to the manufacturers who...

    Noisy ceiling switch

Most ceiling switches are loud as the plasterboard/void combination amplify the switching noise. Best to replace with a standard wall mounted switch outside the bathroom.

    Monoblock kitchen tap

Just check that no debris has been caught in the cardridge which would prevent the disk from closing properly. Otherwise I doubt you will find a replacement cardridge & you'll just have to replace the whole tap...

    Monoblock kitchen tap

You should be able to unscrew the top part (chrome) by hand, this will give you access to the hex nut which you can undo with a spanner.

    Kitchen radials

I have just had a builder come to my house to quote & install a kitchen. Upon inspection, he advised he could not install the kitchen as the circuits were radials and this was no longer legal in kitchens... Have not heard of this one before, are there new regs in place?

ariston combi overheating and cutting out

They won't ask to see the benchmark card but they will ask over the phone for the installer's details (inc. Corgi reg number) & date of installation.

ariston combi overheating and cutting out

Does the flow pipe from the boiler feel like 90°C? Is hot water working normally?

Can I hide pipes in brick ?

Plastic pipes would need to be sleeved as well. Corrugated conduit is available from DIY stores & electrical wholesalers.

    Combination Microwave

1- Specific to microwaves, high voltage/high current capacitor 2- Easy, just be careful not to damage the new magnetron & seal when inserting it in the cavity. 3- No, just don't loose the screws :) 4- Depends how much ££ a new magnetron is... 5- Probably not worth it 6- Or sell...

I'll pay money for constant hot water temperature......

Your combi is overheating  It can probably only handle 10 to 12L/min at 35°C rise (check the spec), you're asking for over twice as much. Reduce the flow rate until you get a stable temperature. You can install a pressure reducing valve on your mains supply to avoid exceeding...
