    Boiler Running Query

Depends on the temperature and what the thermostat is calling for. There is a lag between the thermo setting and the boiler turning off. How often is this happening?

Viva Skylo flush valve leaking into pan.

I've fitted a few of these Viva Skylos and initially all is fine. Had a problem now with a second one which is only about a year old where the valve is not seating back down properly again. So overflowing into the pan like crazy. Manually pushed down and all is fine. The rubber seal seems...

    NPT to BSP adaptor?

Trying to adapt an NPT 3/4" male thread to BSP for a water connection. While there are numerous adaptors in the marketplace, I understand NPT threads are typically tapered. The one I want to connect to uses a parallel thread and needs sealing by a rubber washer. Any ideas where it could be...

    Remove Cast Iron Soil Pipe

You can just use a grinder to cut the cast iron pipe. It can be flush to the ground but to be practical normally a little above for the grinder to get a square cut. You can google the adaptors to connect to cast iron.

Is this torch ok for solder ring fittings.

Who are the 'pros'? Anyone that plumbs as a trade. Yes, there are some who do a great job and there are plenty who do a poor one. Just because you make it your trade doesn't make you brilliant by default. That applies to any trade. Likewise DIYers who make a mess and others who do very good...

Is this torch ok for solder ring fittings.

Social media is convincing people plumbers are extremely meticulous. The majority of solder joints out there always use more than the needed amount of solder, whatever they claim themselves. Always have solder snots. Some wipe them off. I've been plumbing as a DIYer since I was a teenager. The...

10 year old house, toilet fill valve keeps filling

The inlet and the flush are separate systems and can be changed independently. Will be the washer/diaphragm on the inlet valve is damaged. Turn water off and reach down turn it anti-clockwise a bit and should come away. Had one similar type to this recently. Couldn't find a replacement washer so...

    Push fit fittings under floor

Might have used sections of the old install. Safety wise, well, tons of homes have lead solder on the pipe but it will have been coated with a fair amount of mineral deposits so is not a biggie. Loads of mains lead pipes still around. You can always get water supplier to do a toxicity check...

    Push fit fittings under floor

That last pic of copper pipe doesn't look 2 months old to me. It does oxidise but still has a sheen. Either re-used old pipe or it's part of the existing system. But someone has been rubbing wire wool on it not too long ago.

    Push fit fittings under floor

Have used plenty of pushfit, though JG ones, and had no real issues. Even copper will deteriorate over time.

    Toilet Soil Pipe Connector

Are you sure it even has the usual finned rubber seal at the soil pipe end? Picture isn't quite clear but could be a 5" soil pipe someone has tried to modify with an extractor ducting reducer.

Yes, that was the next resort to just change it.
