More Royal Shenanigans...

It's amazing, when shown they are being shafted, how many just bend over and take it!

Blair and Brown did far more damage in 13 years than our Royal Family could ever do.

Assuming that you have lefty leanings to go with your republican dogma, I don't suppose you would realise this.

The royals are a big draw that encourages people and their money to visit the UK.

If we had an elected head of state with the moral and legal authority to veto laws passed by Parliament then somebody could have stopped the Blair/Brown disaster.

The Queen did SFA, just nodded them through.

Wouldn't it have been nice to have an elected head of state who could prevent megalomaniac prime ministers? And we have had a few of those in the last few years....

And not a single foreigner I know comes to the UK because of royalty. They actually think they are quaint and cannot understand why we put up with them.

Plenty come for benefits, free houses, free health, free education for their myriad offspring.

Maybe now that we've got over anti-German sentiment from the 1st World War they should revert back to their proper name of Saxe-Coburg and more Germans would come to visit their family and spend more thus adding to our economy.....

Yes, being elected would make all the difference. The end of all our problems.

Hang on a minute.....................wasn't Blair elected by someone? Bang goes that theory then!

Another layer of elected politicians, to keep other elected politicians in check. You didn't think this through, did you? Arise, President Blair!

However did the UK manage to be successful for centuries with an unelected, hereditary head of state? Don't think we can pin our recent malaise on the present incumbent.

That crazy SPencer woman was far more English and of true Noble stock than the lot she married into. Not that that makes her special of course....

And they treated her like ****, but she did what was required of her, produced an heir and a spare.

And at the same time the "palace bike" was doing to the next in line what she had been doing since he was in a cradle. PROBABLY!!!!

Why was she never taken to court as a common paedophile????

Did she have access to Wills and Harry??

Did she f "tuck" them in of a night??

Tourist visits 2011:

France 79.5 million
UK 29.2 million

Guess which country got rid of their parasites... ;)

So, that's conclusive then. If we want 50 million more tourists, we become a republic.

I would be the first to admit that there have been, and are, many members of the royal family that you wouldn't want to spend time with. Some are possibly quite unappealing characters.

However, I'm not necessarily supporting the people involved (although few could say that Liz has put a foot wrong), but the monarchy as an institution that has served us reasonably well for centuries. Unfortunately, with a hereditary system, you have to take the rough with the smooth.

No...

It just shows that the 'they pay their own way' argument is a load of b*llocks!

Get rid of the scrounging family and leave the buildings intact as a memorial to our historical follies!
