Hi all,
I have the above boiler, it blew the fuse the other week, we had the gas man out and was told it was the fan that caused it, new fan installed, two days later same problem, told this time it would be a faulty fan, even when asked if it was an underlying problem, they replaced it yesterday, and lo and behold its gone again today.
I know it's an old boiler (said the bishop) but does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem?

Thanks in advance

The fans very a simple motor. There's not much to blow there. They burn out if they seize, all this power flowing through the coil attempting to turn the shaft, it'll cook itself.

Could be the wiring harness, could be a issue with the PCB that drives the fan, could be a issue with the supply to the appliance.

If someone's just chucking fans at the boiler then change engineer, as they need to fault find to the source of the problem. :)

From here I can only take a guess and say that the pump is a possible culprit that hasn't been mentioned already. There may be some water dripping from the base of the metal head if my guess is good.

You need an engineer who can disseminate the sequence of events to determine the cause of the short circuit and if he has a meter to measure resistances on your 2 speed fan/s than that would be great:cool:
