The loonies regularly trot out the far-right attempted arsons at asylum hotels. Did you know that the only successful arson attack on an asylum hotel was by an Iraqi asylum seeker? He burnt down his first hotel, ironically called The Phoenix, and was then moved to the famous Bell Hotel in Epping, which he also tried to torch!

Officers identified similarities between the two incidents and found Abdulrahman had been staying in the hotel rooms at the time of the fires.
Abdulrahman was arrested and charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life.
He denied the allegations but was convicted following a trial on 20 March.
