Mounting a TV on a paramount wall

60mm sounds about right, I'm fairly sure I used 3x2 cls so the short side would be 38mm with 18mm osb on top gives 56mm and you've got to allow for the thickness of the 2 finished faces of the paramount, the osb was possibly thinner than 18mm it's been awhile since I did it.

Had reason to come back to this thread today and realised I never posted a finished image of it all.

    Paramount walls - studs?

Bit of a reversal in that I mounted a TV but the thread below is how I put studding into a paramount wall so I could mount off it. https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/mounting-a-tv-on-a-paramount-wall.629349/ If you can screw into your battens from the other side then make good the decoration...

What Type Of Hinges Do I Need?

Thought I'd update where this got to, lined the opening with some 18mm mdf, this meant I needed to use overlay hinges rather than inset ones. Just the skirting to sort out, undecided whether to fit it to the door itself or leave it off, I'm leaning towards off at the minute but we'll see.

    Outside Tap

Check valve is built into the tap and it's wras approved. Isolation valve is the other side of the shower which is in the room next to where I've taken the water from. If I need to drain it down I can remove the washing machine hose and drain from there as its the lowest point.

    Outside Tap

Hi all, I had to pull our washing machine out the other day for a different job and while it was out the way I decided to fit an outside tap using it's water feed. That's what I started with. Drilled through the chosen point and fitted a wall plate, Managed to cobble the...

How to use a Multimeter to test if wires are live

Those wires look like there in a block connector. Turn off your consumer unit and carefully remove the tape and take a photo of what's under it, if it's a 'chocolate block' then it's fairly easy to safely check it

    Neaten this pipework

It would look tidier even if you moved the vertical drop so it's tight to what looks like box section then had a longer horizontal run at skirting height painted to match the wall

What Type Of Hinges Do I Need?

https://www.toolstation.com/blum-soft-close-blumotion-concealed-hinge/p52409? So those ones, I take it I can set them straight into the frame that's there and then just add a mdf strip to act as a stop on the opposite side and top?

What Type Of Hinges Do I Need?

Hi all, I want to put an 18mm mdf 'door' on the opening below, what type of hinges will I need so the door can sit flush with the sides? I was thinking of putting 2 strips of mdf down the sides set back for the door to sit against and then using kitchen cabinet style hinges but wondered if...

Use a dremel or similar to cut a slot in them then use a decent fitting flat blade screwdriver

    Does this pipework look okay?

A picture of where the mdpe enters the house would be useful as getting that sorted out properly is going to be more of an issue than sorting out under the sink

    Bloody Tyre Shops

I'd have no issue if the shop had failed them at test for being dangerous, I have an issue with them trying to claim it's dangerous and must be replaced immediately then the next day they state it meets the required safety standard. I'd of also accepted them saying they really should be...

    Bloody Tyre Shops

Sorry I'm not going to agree telling someone there dangerous and have to be changed immediately then passing them the following day is just trying to pressurise people.

    Bloody Tyre Shops

I'm not surprised any of the wheel alignment is out, she doesn't look after it and being a bmw platform it runs an amount of negative camber anyway. My issue is in them stating there dangerous and have to be changed there and then, but the next day they pass them in an mot, they were simply...

    Bloody Tyre Shops

So I've been badgering the wife to get her wheel alignment done since replacing her 2 front tyres as they were down to the wire. Yesterday she takes it to one of the local tyre places to have the alignment done (their the pick of the bunch round here but none of them excel) , they had it up on...

150mm hole - close to the edge

Is it a decorated wall? If not I'd get a decent sized bit of 18mm osb or ply, cut your hole out of it then mount the board to the wall making sure to get screws in each block and the board will help hold it all together while you core. Once you've cored 25mm or so into the material use a...
