    Hearth reconstruction

people are too decent in this group to speak to others like that, if you’re doing it wrong then they usually suggest a different way and explain why your way wouldn’t work… the idea of asking questions is to find out the right way to do something! I’m fairly confident if you get stuck on other...

    Hearth reconstruction

Morning, I’m assuming your floor is concrete that your building the hearth on, if so has it already got dpm under it? You only really lay sand on dpm when installing insulation in there. If it’s a concrete hearth and you want dpm there’s no issue just fill it with concrete ontop of the dpm… id...

    Exposed fire place boarding

Ok that makes more sense of What your trying to accomplish, any sort of plaster board on there and you will Regret it in that vicinity . Exposed fire place boarding

Personally I’d brick/block it up and install a vent then on your pots puts some ridge tiles or caps. Once bricked up then skim it. This will allow the chimney to breath and air flow but not cause damp.

    Plastering over existing plaster

Do you mean dot and dab? First of all you need to find out why it’s cracking ie movement in the boards or just a rubbish tape job. Once that is done I’d scrim tape it , pva and the just skim it with multi Regards Jake

Replacing 15mm copper CH system with 10mm PB barrier pipe. Is this the done thing now?

Personally I wouldn’t use 10mm poly, they use it on new builds and it causes more issues then anything. 15mm will give you better flow and is more stable , poly tends to Ben especially the hot water v cold no matter how matter how many clips you have… the best solution would be to find the leak...
