    Leaking shower sealant gap

I have a shower that's leaks into kitchen below. I have tested the waste pipe and even after 30-45 mins of running water there is no leak. When I point the shower to two ends of the shower tray there is a leak. So I got a plumber to reseal (£££) and it didn't solve the issue, he's been 3 times...

    Lenovo X1 carbon (1st gen)

I found this old laptop and it turned on ok. Thought I would run updates and there were regular windows ones and a bios update. Unfortunately I said yes to the bios update. Since then the power button turns green for about a second before it turns off. I can also hear the fan come on for about a...

    Door handle hard to operate

Thanks Ronnie. I think you are right it's something when the door is shut because when it's open it's working fine. I will check the alignment first.

Thank you. It's hard going up when trying to lock it from the outside. I will send a DM with some more pictures if ok.

    Door handle hard to operate

Attached is a picture of external door handle which has become very hard to operate. I tried oiling the catches in the door but they have made little difference. Any ideas.

    Chimney draft and debris

Thanks a lot for your response. That does sound like a significant amount of work which I don't think will be able to do myself. Would you tell me ballpark how much I should budget for this (SW London). Can I do it in steps over a few months or should it all be done in one go. Also if you have...

    Chimney draft and debris

Hi, we have 5 fireplaces that are not used. There is no leak but we do sometimes see debris and also there is cold draft through them which can be heard when it's windy outside. There is one gas fireplace as well, we see debris come down in that fireplace too. No water in any of them. Attaching...

    uPVC door adjustment

Thanks! It is rubbing against the threshold and there isn't the 6-7mm gap so it does look like the door has dropped. The door is held by three hinges which looks like the ones in the picture. Doesn't look like they have been touched in a while.

    uPVC door adjustment

Hi All, on my patio door at the bottom of one door the lower metal part that extends when locking the door is sticking out a bit and it has a bit of play. So the door closes but needs a bit of a push or pull as it's not sitting flush. Can I adjust the height of this part so it doesn't stick out...

You're right. Ok will check tomorrow as we are out now. But even if it is neutral, I will have to find a way to extend in a live from the box opposite.

    Wires clarity

Thanks, but connector block wire we established is not neutral because this is the same that goes into the original box. I also saw on this side that it has the red wire cut which means that it is the same black wire which is being used as a live extended.

Ok thanks all. I do want a socket in there and there is enough room for it to fit but if it's too complicated will leave it. So I opened up the 3 gang switch. Hard to get clear pictures but I tried my best. So attached are three pictures. One from the top of the switch, one from the bottom and...

    Wires clarity

Thanks all! So some more information. The black wire comes from the back of the box and blue wire from the top. Where the black wire comes from, I can definitely see a wire cut off (looks red). The blue wire is definitely by itself. Behind where is switch is located and on the other side of the...

Thanks. So first apologies, I now realise that it's not possible to simply change it into a single socket. But I almost did, I thought the blue was neutral. But then I reversed my steps as it dawned on me that it cannot be if they terminated in the same plastic casing. Hazard averted. But what I...

Should also mention this switch is a spare, the switch itself was not wired in. The wires were both in a single plastic connector.
