    Hard to tell from photos , my thoughts are flaunching looks to be weak soft sand/ same for corbelled brickwork on parapet/ crap filling in general. Valley tiles look too close, Lead under apex/ bargeboards is too long and pointing of lead looks insufficient. Cannot see any bespoked lead. Really...

    The last picture shows a zone valve, with the boiler off manually open the valve, it is a small lever that you move across and catch hold in a recess. The pipes either side of the valve have bleed points, undo these but don't take them completely off

    Google heating zone valves. Often these will be found near the pump . Don't think it's necessary to drain down you just need to bleed the circuits, photos of around the boiler, cylinder and pump would help
