Pushfit connecting plastic to copper leak HELP

I'm wondering if the HW flow problems (how are you judging that?) might be down to a dodgy shower valve?

    JG Speedfit connections

The only problems I've had with pushfit fittings have been down to me not ensuring the pipe was pushed into the fitting properly. I think compression on plastic is my least favoured joint though, I never quite trust them :-) I think there is more scope for error, esp. if you aren't used to...

    reduntant shower pump

Yeah, i've part way through a bathroom refit. new pump installed, but not wired in yet. Flow through the pump seems ok into the bath, though not actually tried it on a shower yet as not installed that yet. Suck it and see I think. It would be possible I'm sure to bypass the pump if there is...

Pushfit connecting plastic to copper leak HELP

Hmm, it's probably ok, problem is you never really quite know. Pushing it back in like that with the insert in place might be ok (I've done it with a speedfit fittings, when I hadn't pushed it in fully and it came out on testing) . If it came out because it wasn't pushed in past the grab...

Shower trap waste insert missing causing smell

OT, but, if the chap didn't charge (and the OP not pay, why would they?), isn't that his choice and fair enough? It seems a perfectly reasonable way to approach running such a business. Effectively a loss leader - hoping to get more call outs, hoping that enough will turn into a job to...

    new rad in conservatory

In principle isn't doesn't matter, which ever is easiest. But you ought to try and assess if there is enough capacity in the existing pipework to supply the new rad as well.

Might be a daft question but may as well ask

I'm thinking having a new baby, isn't necessarily the best time to start doing the odd jobs - musty be the nesting instinct :-) And the baby really won't be bothered about the temp, as long as it's got enough clothes on etc. As to the rad. I'd probably look into whether the existing rad...

    Cental Heating Upgrade?

Yup, probably best to keep it whilst it is till going fine, there isn't a lot to go wrong with old boilers anyway. It is unsurprisingly, a pretty inefficient boiler by modern standards a pretty typical 65% according to the SEBUK database...

Wall Mounted Basin - Fixing Query

Hmm, I'd be concerned about how much of the stud was in the soild bit of the wall, even with it screwed in as you suggest (not got them in my hand too measure with of course). If I was concerned I'd probably use resin to set a couple of lengths of threaded rod in the wall.

Fitting new radiator valves to micro bore system

where on earth have you looked??? they are easily available, from multiple manufacturers. I like Drayton TRV4s Random internet link, look on this page you'll see various 10mm TRV's: http://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/thermostatic-radiator-valves/?page=1 Lockshield/manual...

    Is a power flush necessary?

Yeah, I would say that if the system is working fine, and no symptoms of significant sludging up then it isn't necessary. I reckon they are told to try and upsell powerflushing whenever possible.

Copper Hot Water Cyl - Heating how much

That could well be the problem. Normally they are mounted 1/4 to 1/3 the way up the cylinder. I'd move it down a bit

Twisting of toilet boss in soil stack

Yes, does look like solvent weld. You would need to cut the pipe above and below the current branch. Use a new branch. and then a straight coupler or two and some bits of pipe to connect it all back up. (depending on how things work out, you might be to join the new branch straight back to...

    5" shower rose fitting. Universal?

Well, I'd have thought so. But you can always check that yours is with a 1/2 " bsp nut/fitting, assuming it is then make sure what ever replacement you get has the same.

thermostatic bar mixer shower valve failure

Water Softener :-) (it's what I plan to fit here, now I have lovely new shiny taps . Though our showers have been fine - in leeds previously, and now in Cambs, both with very hard water. Certainly I'd consider 2-3 years unacceptable, I'd be complaining to the retailer/manufacturer. What make...

    rising a 1200 x 800 quadrant shower tray

I did mine closer than that. Over engineering seemed better than under engineering. You Tube is a good source of how to do it videos. Some good, some so-so, some rubbish :-) But useful for idea etc. eg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Abypx5oLU8

    rising a 1200 x 800 quadrant shower tray

Well, it's all pretty vague now, it was about 12-13 years ago. mine was a regular quadrant tray, 900mm IIRC. I think I probably put some in parallel to one wall, one abutting the wall, a couple more before the trap, maybe one after it and then a 2-3 short ones at right angle to that. Put...

    rising a 1200 x 800 quadrant shower tray

When I did the one in our last house, I used WBP ply, 18mm probably, cut to she shape of the tray. screwed down to and supported on 4x2 timbers, timbers arranged so as to be able to get to trap and run the waste. Tray bedded on a weak sand cement mix, alternatively use flexible tile adhesive...

2 Pump Non Vented System Help Please

Yes, what DPis suggesting is that there is a loop of pipe, through which HW is continuously pumped. It means that HW is instantly available at the taps, you don't have to wait for it to come from the tank. Not commonly used in domestic situations, but common in hotels and such like
