Worked for companies doing servicing, hated it. too much pressure no concern for gas safety (company that is) done installation work for companies too hard work for bad pay. Now work for myself and subby doing both but trying to move into breakdown work cos I`m gonna get too old for install at...

Has the system ever been balanced? If not or you don`t know I`d have a go at that.

Central heating leaking into hot water

I do believe it to be common practice in the particular area in which I worked because it was. I don`t think that doing so was a mistake, it was installed that way intentionally. I merely pointed out the fact that this is the way that these particular systems were installed. (They were...

Central heating leaking into hot water

You are right. You are wrong. Can`t count them all, look this is pointless and nothing to do with the problem originally posted so I`m going to leave it here. Have a pleasant evening.

Central heating leaking into hot water

I don`t know how long a radiator will last with secondary water flowing through it. Could you point out where I was being ridiculous? You are also unaware of the system employing a ``hot rod``, that`s fair enough but just because you don`t know something doesn`t mean it must be ridiculous...

Central heating leaking into hot water

"Softus" Sorry, but I`m not being ridiculous.I used to work for a firm with a large contract for a housing association, the systems had been in for years and this is how they had been installed, just because you haven`t witnessed it, doesn`t mean it hasn`t been done. It`s not the way we do...

Central heating leaking into hot water

Probably is a split coil as others have mentioned. Why don`t you completely drain down your cylinder, (if you are lucky enough to have a drain point fitted at the bottom that isn`t seized), turn off the plastic tank above your cylinder, then observe the water level in your small tank feeding...

Central heating leaking into hot water

Was the chemical added to your bathroom rad by any chance? I know that in some conventional systems they used to pipe up the bathroom rad to the hot water cylinder rather than the heating system, so you always had a rad hot for drying off towels, even when heating was off.

soil pipe - need for venting?

The AAV or `Durgo`valve as they are more commonly known needs to be at a height of 1300mm from the top of your highest sanitaryware, in your case, washbasin for it to function correctly, it is o.k. to box them in but I doubt wether yours is performing it`s task.

It`s seized, making a lot of noise when I free it up, then it completely packs in. Does anyone know of any decent boiler breakdown courses that are available? as you can see I need all the help I can get, :D been to Glowworm, Baxi courses but all they wanted to do was waffle on about how...

It definitely doesn`t have connections from the fan for an APS is what I meant to say, it must be some sort of microswitch, can`t find anything on the Glowworm site, the APS must be operated electrically, just haven`t worked on one of these before and wanted to read up, if anyone else can help...

Does anyone know where I can download the MIs on this boiler it doesn`t have an air pressure switch & I`m thinking of replacing the fan which is dodgy but am not sure how it fires up without an APS. Thanks for your time. I know it`s discontinued & the Glowworm site doesn`t hold any literature on...
