I should said, this is the first drain on a 1.4mile section of B road, so gets lots of water to it. When I said to KCC highways how about a new drain at the field wks 100m further up, they were also not interested, which I think would of at the least moved the problem out of the village.

Yes I think what would happen is a deep road blocking level of water would happen, as this is a low point of that road, and then I get the new problem of vehicles blocked. Ok all help great, let me come back and say what happens next.

Yes open fire, was looking as see no air vent below or behind it (I think just the normal backfill stuff). Anyway shame was not a cellar, my boys were looking forward to digging it up. Cheers.

Final thoughts...I did perhaps the obvious, late in the day, followed the straight pipe and c8 metres later assuming it carries on, it gets to directly below a fireplace.
