    Eaves protector.

Thanks, they are quite heavy and the end ones are cemented and do not want to disturb them. Hoping to slide any 'tray' in to the end.

    Eaves protector.

I have a 1970s concrete tile roof Marly flat concrete version. I am sure there is no felt eaves support 'tray'. Because the tiles are flat and therefore lay flat on the facia, I'm guessing I do not need a bird trap? Just the basic protector style. B&Q sell them but any suggestions for a reliable...

    Kitchen Layout for Hob Difficult

Yes, we can fit the hob in the space above the draw. Looking at the ElectriQ eiQC60Kv3 hob. Only problem I see is the Cooker switch unit will be at the back of the hob so wonder if it has to be moved to make it more accessible in an emergency. Do the rules state this or can I leave it there...

    Kitchen Layout for Hob Difficult

We are older and need an eye level oven but being little workspace have no idea how to accommodate the hob. Currently we have a stand-alone oven hob but the space could take a full height cabinet for the oven. Ideas welcome.

    Replacing worn felt.

Yep, good idea. Will last for my purposes but long pieces may be awkward to fit. Do they still make the original stuff and what's it called?

    How to work out...

Ah, so from the outer face of the inner leaf to the outer face of the outer leaf I think is about 160mm incl. the cavity. So it looks like 64mm. Not much but is a low angle on the roof. Thanks, made me think it was easier with trig. So may need to trim the Botton of the rafter. Hope that aligns...

    How to work out...

...the height where the rafters sitting on the top of the inner skin (top of the wall plate) to the top of the outer skin so that the rafters clear the wall and the soffit sits on the top of the outer skin for a given roof pitch (mine will be about 22 degrees ? Thanks.

    Replacing worn felt.

At my eaves on a 1970s market concrete tile roof the bitumen felt is torn or rotting. I am looking for an eaves protector that is deeper than the 160mm so that it can extend up to or even under the lowest batten which I will take off after (hopefully) pushing up the tiles to gain access. Is...

    Moss on Roof

I have Marley flat concrete tile 1970s roof. They have two grooves and I worry that when the moss grows in the gap, water running down will overflow into the underfelt (which is the old bitumen stuff in a 1970s roof). Is there a tool to gouge out the groove somewhere that will telescope right to...

    Restricted access felt roof condensation

I'm going to check my venting. I did allow for passage of air but I think the condensation is overwhelming when ice is on the roof. So i am going to check it out and maybe put in some under skin like on conventional tiled roofs just to catch the drips. Still thinking and maybe if it's just a...

    Restricted access felt roof condensation

The solution I have come up with is to cut out long slots between the joists inside (removing the ply overboards. There is enough room to spread out Bostik liquid Bituminous mastic plus if necessary I will remove more of the board between the other joists and staple up some drip barrier on the...

    Restricted access felt roof condensation

Old felt roof has corrugated metal overlay so sealed all round. Condensation forming on underside drips on old felt which leaks a bit. I need to gain access through holes either end and spray loads of pour-on (very liquid) sealer so it floods the surface and hopefully finds the cracks. So I need...

Old Felt (Bitument) torn - repair

A strip of the old felt although fairly sound has torn away from the rafter along the line of the rafter (along it's edge) for about 1.5m. Any suggestions for fixing it back in place? I was thinking of using a bit of 2 x 1, stapling a strip of bitumen tape along the 1" edge, sticking the felt...

    Inner wall beam placement method

Yes! Another (good) Idea! And thanks to poster. I have now got a complete schedule including the beam size and BC script. Bypassing the AI by using AI

    Inner wall beam placement method

I want to remove the wall between kitchen and d/room. Instead of propping and chopping I am thinking of placing the required beam in situ first (right adj to the wall) then chopping out the old wall. I have plenty of time so no pressure as it's DIY. I understand for uncomplicated jobs like this...
