    What are you using to test for power at the replacement socket? If it's an appliance, have you checked that it works on a known good socket?

    I power my lagged immersion heater constantly during the day, allowing the tank thermostat to keep the water temperature constant. I have found it to be no more expensive & a lot more convenient than turning on the power manually and heating the water from cold each time I want hot water.
