    Strap boss for cast iron

Well, I've located one in stock 30 miles away in Gateshead. Only problem is, he tells me it has a tolerance of 110mm - 118mm OD. I'm pretty sure the stuff I'm dealing with is 100mm OD

    Strap boss for cast iron

No, it's for a Saniflo installation. I need one quick as the job has to be finished in time for the lady getting out of hospital next week. Just ringing round, Plumbs don't do one so may have to wait until Drainage Center open on monday. Regarding using a plastic boss onto CI, most will go...

PLEASE HELP ME... This is driving me mad !!!

 I think it's better the OP lists all the controls, prog, motorised valve, cylinder stat if there is one, roomstat if there is one etc. Then I may be able to supply a diagram. Sound to me he has the potential for a Y-plan if he upgrades the prog and adds an extra wire or 2...

PLEASE HELP ME... This is driving me mad !!!

Ahem, I thought the Ferroli Sigma was a range of cast-iron heat only boilers, Bengasman. Clue is right there in the 40/60. In which case the Tempus will be controlling HW as well. If this is the case , the OP should be fitting a roomstat only!

A new solution to replacing Back Boilers!

Have Baxi failed to realise that most existing BBU installations still run gravity primaries. Rather than have to do a fully pumped upgrade, surely a combi would be easier and cheaper. Sound a right ******* to fit on your own, lol. BBU s were always hard graft, I thought I'd installed my...

    Servicing a boiler, How Long?

Purchasing a flue gas analyser has had very little effect on the way I service a boiler. I still clean the combustion chamber, hex, burner, fan, venturi, etc. Check high and low burner pressures and safety devices, electrodes etc. Then I apply the FGA and print off the result. Remember, the...

Baxi wireless programmable room thermostat problem

Yes there has been issues. They are made by Grasslin and are used by several manufacturers. I'm currently using the Salus after suffering communication issues with some makes. The Salus RT500RF seems to have excellent range (60m) and has been trouble free so far. Plus they're very reasonably...

    What flue gas analyser.....

I use a Testo 827-1 adv. Nice piece of kit that exudes quality. They do a great dvd with it as well.

why do homes need water header tanks?

Yeeha!! Great thread, kept me up late! Bottom line is, every job must be designed on it's own merits. I suspect Bengasman has only worked in areas where there is bountiful water supply pressures. Sadly the UK is not all like that. Stored water and open vented systems are often the only...

    Zone valves on heating system

A sparky who understands heating controls and principals is a very rare beast indeed! I'm in Durham, not too far!

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

Oh dear, if the brown has been cut, how does the valve open?? Sounds like you need an RGI with excellent heating electrics knowledge. There could be live stuff there that shouldn't be,

28mm zone valve, for gravity hot water. Extra wire?

I imagine the feed goes to the cylinder stat and comes out on the 'call for heat' side, then connects to the brown on the MV. I am only guessing from the info you have provided. If this is so, the vave will close when the cyl stat is satisfied, but the boiler will continue to cycle on it's...
