    Plaster/Filling bubbling Nightmare!

Yes the paint is matt and the same colour. It's definitely a result of the paste.I seen him wiping it down and noticed it the next day before the wall was repainted. In hindsight I should have asked him to repaint that wall while he was here but the guy was actually doing me a huge favour relining...

    Plaster/Filling bubbling Nightmare!

Right guys I'm glad to say that the after applying the lining paper and painting it looks great.Problem solved. My new dillema is the decorator got a bit of paste on the adjoining wall while hanging the linging paper and although he wiped it down with a sponge it has left a noticable...

    Plaster/Filling bubbling Nightmare!

The decorator applied some filler to the problem area, let it dry for a couple of days and came up and put lining paper over it.It looks ok but it's still to be painted.I'm praying that there is no problems when the paint is applied.

    Plaster/Filling bubbling Nightmare!

Thank you very much for that.I'll read him this post tomorrow before he starts. My worry is that the new lining paper won't "match" the paper on the adjoining walls and stick out like a sore thumb but I don't really see what else can be done? It's been a nightmare with this house recently.One...

    Plaster/Filling bubbling Nightmare!

Joe,the guy has filled it and is coming back to put lining paper over it and repaint.Do you think this would be a bad idea? The problem area is a square where the fire once was.The rest of the wall is fine. When painting the middle area the filler that was used is bubbling really bad.

    Plaster/Filling bubbling Nightmare!

We added filler to cover the part that bubbled/peeled away so should it be ok to put some lining paper up and repaint even though there is already painted lining paper on the wall already? It's not going to be possible to strip all the paper off as they have plastered over the wall/lining paper...

    Plaster/Filling bubbling Nightmare!

I had my gas fire removed and the wall was "plastered" up for painting. However it wasn't ready to just paint over and previous decorator added filler to level it out so it could be painted over. It needed another coat and when applying the paint some bubbles appeared.Sadly they didn't go back...

    Laminate Flooring Colour suggestions

Hi Folks, I'm looking for some advice please? I'm about to get new Laminate flooring and really can't decide on what color? I know this is a personal choice but I would really appreciate some advice from people who are familiar with Laminate. The colours of the walls are Dark grey on bottom and...

    Wood remaining sticky after painting/Glossing.

I wish it was as easy as that. The bar/Wood is fitted to two beams that come from the ceiling to the floor.I guess if after glossing this time if it doesn't get the desired reults then the next step would be to cover it with formica. It's had the previous paint removed and been sanded then the...

    Wood remaining sticky after painting/Glossing.

Stripped and sanded all the paint off back to wood and added a coat of primer.Should this now be ok to gloss or would it need another coat?

    Wood remaining sticky after painting/Glossing.

@Chri5 that link is working now! I had someone look at the bar and he said it would have to be stripped back and primed before re painting. However he did say that the paint should come off fairly easy as just using his nail he was able to peel some off! The only thing is I have just had the...

    Wood remaining sticky after painting/Glossing.

It's water based, dulux satinwood.Do you think it would be easier to find a product that could cover it,like a vinyl cover or something? Also if covering it,would the paint still have to be sanded off first anyway? Thanks.

    Wood remaining sticky after painting/Glossing.

With the benefit of hindisght I wish I would have tod him to just leave it! What it is is a bar that seperates the living room from the kitchen. The living room has the kitchen area in the same room seperated with this bar.To be honest it's only really used for sitting a couple of pictures etc on...

    Wood remaining sticky after painting/Glossing.

Oh No!Is this a big time consuming job?The bar itself isn't that long.Would anything work ontop of the gloss to "seal" it then applying some more gloss?Whole living room has just been done too.:(

    Wood remaining sticky after painting/Glossing.

Hi folks,I've got a "breakfast bar" in the kitchen which was wood and unpainted. When having the house painted the painter suggested glossing it white which I though was a good idea as the dark brown colour didn't go with the newly glossed woodwork. However he didn't do any priming or anything...

    Laminate and prices

Maybe not on reality just on what my budget will allow really.I don't want to spend crazy amonts as it is a council flat and they can decide anytime that work needs carried out and said floor might get ripped up again.I'm just looking for a half decent priced laminate that will hopefully do me...

    Laminate and prices

That one looks and sounds ideal.I just read a comment there that said it's been discontinued? I wish I could do it myself but I have no experience whatsoever doing anything like this.Never done any DIY . What is there disadvantages with the cheaper ones,is it just that they mark and scratch...

    Laminate and prices

Pfft that's a lot!If it was my own home I wouldn't mind getting the best quality stuff but I think I'll need to go for not the cheapest but a "budget" of around maybe £12m2 and the green squared underlay. These houses might not even last another 10-15 years. Both these fall into a budget category...
