Glowworm Boiler Ultimate 80 - not getting hot

My daughter had a Glowworm Ultimate 50 and I managed to keep it going for her over the last 5 years, 2 refurbished PCB, ignition electrode, air pressure switch plus a number of other components external to the boiler. It had been in since the house was built around 20 years ago and was one...

How do you shut the water for the cold tank?

Never used one but looks like it could be your answer. Depends where you can fit it, ideally before your main isolation valve, then you can remove it, otherwise after and leave the existing one in place and (hopefully) fully open.

How do you shut the water for the cold tank?

Good advice from “oldbutnotdead” regarding tackling the main isolation valve but be aware that unless it’s been altered, there’s a good chance that the incoming main could be lead with the original isolation valve “sweated” onto the lead pipe. Best to strip out and expose what’s what, you may...

How do you shut the water for the cold tank?

If that is indeed the mains cold water supply to the tank it shouldn’t have a gate valve on it, there should be either a stopcock or 1/4 turn valve

    Drain System through Magnaclean Filter

To completely drain the system you would need to drain at the lowest point / points without knowing how your system is piped it’s difficult to say.

Why is my toilet pipe leaking?

Saying it’s been cut off is being extremely kind, looks more like it’s been chewed off.

Why is my toilet pipe leaking?

Depending on what distance you have got you may be able to cut the black soil pipe back beyond the hole where the strap on boss is and fit something like one of these

Why is my toilet pipe leaking?

Looks like very little thought (or skill) has gone into that installation, the strap on boss looks as though it will discharge onto the sealing fins on the pan connector. Or he may have realised that and cut away some of the fins to accommodate the strap on boss thus reducing the effectiveness...

Can you reuse the end of a pipe after removing pushfit joint?

That’s a Hep2o fitting, replace with a Hep2o tee (you will need a plastic demounting tool) some fittings are “grip ring” first and “O” ring second and some are the other way around. Make sure the pipe isn‘t scored where the “O” ring sits or it could weep, make sure y push it on full socket.

Found DrylinePro fixings to be excellent for Dot & DAB walls,

    ID push fit brand

Look like a crimp system and as such will not be demountable, another thing to be aware of is a lot of MLP systems are imported and may not be ”standard” UK sizes, instead of 15mm, 22mm and 28mm you may find it’s 16mm, 20mm and 25mm.

Towel Rail on Hot Water Feed Not Getting Hot

If the towel warmer is installed on the Secondary DHW system it would need to be manufactured from copper rather than mild steel and to be of any real use would need to be installed on a pumped / secondary circulation system. Otherwise it would only circulate when a hot tap is opened. Much...

    Obsolete if it is

Is this old grey Hep pipe?

It could be Hep2o, the H and V depth insertion markers are consistent with their markings, the black print on the pipe would suggest that it’s “Standard” pipe and not “Barrier” pipe. It should have “Hepworth“ or “Hep2o” printed on it approximately every metre or so. If you aren’t able to...

Joining to existing plastic 22mm flow and return. What fittings?

Another option is to use a compression tee with copper olives, and stainless steel pipe inserts. Shouldn’t need anything else but you could use PTFE tape but not jointing paste.

Connecting speedfit to old polypropylene pipe?

With Hep2o the 18bar test only applies if very old or “Slimline” fittings are incorporated in the system, this is because they are “O” ring first, grab ring second. Current generation of fittings are grab ring first “O” ring second so require an initial low pressure test (0.5 - 1 bar) followed...
