No, not a scissor lift an extending pole thing. As usual, I'm going to try a half-@rsed solution first. Yes, maybe if I cut in carefully I can get away wit it. I can't spray it, I'm too clumsy which does not bode well for ladders and poles!

I have a gable end to paint that is 5m high. The problem is that thee is a tall fence just 1m from this wall and I cannot put a ladder or anything the other side. A ladder that reaches up the wall is so unstable as it can't get back away from the wall far enough. What is the best way to paint...

gas112, thanks for the reply. Could I get a flue installed in the wall rather than the roof? Unfortunately, the boiler is right in the middle of the house so it would require extending the part in the loft to the gable.

We've only just moved here and I think the twigs were from last year. Anyway, I went up to see what type of screws held the spikes on and they basically fell off in my hand - see photo - no spikes! I'd rather have a proper solution. Cheers.
