Do timber fascia boards add structural strength to the roof

Hi Datarebel, sorry that should stay a secret really. But just for you we always finish off with a lollipop. So you get a nice covered corner.

    map markings

The "lollipop" is (or, to be accurate, was) used to mark out a zone where none of the parcels of land are allocated an OS number. They have no other significance. They are typically found where open land meets a built-up area, but also where the enclosures are too small for the area of each to be...

    4mm to 2.5mm on radial

Yep, and I would say that would be, at least in spirit, a 'compliant lollipop circuit'. However, given that we are uncertain about any of the cable sizes, and don't know whether there really are any 'rings' of any sort, none of this can be anything other than speculative guesswork. It might...

Which is why I suggested it needs testing properly

    4mm to 2.5mm on radial

Nothing's impossible [i.e. that there could be 'lollipop' circuit(s)] - but, unless I've missed something, I don't think we've yet been told/shown anything which actually demonstrates that there are any ring (or lollipop) circuits at all, have we? Kind Regards, John

Wiring multiple sockets on fused spur - what is the electrician calculating?

Fair enough - that's not as bad as some, then! As flameport implies, it could well be that he has limited understanding of basic principles which would enable him to think a bit more laterally - so instead 'plays safe' by only doing things in the manner of 'examples' in the books etc. However...

Wiring multiple sockets on fused spur - what is the electrician calculating?

...wrong. I'm worried now about some of the other electrical advice he's given me! I might ask in another thread. Regarding the layout I could do the lollipop/hybrid arrangement, but I think I'll go back and add a few branches in order to reduce the end-to-end length and the worst-case voltage...

Wiring multiple sockets on fused spur - what is the electrician calculating?

Some people call it a lollipop circuit, but plenty don't. Nowhere is it officially designated as that. The NICEIC refer to it as a "hybrid radial/ring" arrangement.

    Oven cable to Socket Cable

...through 'thoughtlessness', on the basis that "we've always installed sockets in rings". I do confess that, in my cellar, I do have a 32A 'lollipop' circuit consisting of a 2.5mm² ring (with some spurs) fed from what was once a cooker circuit but, apart from the fact that I installed it...

...early 1970s building up a set of Stanley 5001s which at the time were much derided by the older joiners who by then tended to use Marples lollipops out on site (with some of the workshop wallahs preferring Blue Chip chisels for cabinet work). Over the years, however, the 5001s proved to be...

Irwin quality? That's a joke these days. IMHO they are trading (falsely) on reputation. Modern Irwin (Marples) blue chip and lollipop (red/yellow handle) chisels aren't a patch on the ones once made in Sheffield so recommending them based on Sheffield-made ones you bought 30 years ago just...

Unused shower cable, how to reuse for sockets?

...existing CU. To feed the light, fit an FCU with a 3A fuse. You could feed the sockets from your upstairs socket circuit and optionally feed your light from your landing light. I have no idea why Winston would recommend installing a lollipop circuit. FYI, this work is notifiable to you LABC.

Circumcision is nuts. First religion and secondly a belief that it makes men cleaner/stops infections. Yes, queenie wears a headscarf but she doesn't have to, nor is she Muslim so there's not that connection of oppression. No idea which men. If you find out who and when it started, let me...

A customer of mine a few years back made me a lovely black moroccan coffee. She's was a French Moroccan. We sat in her kitchen talking about the Hijab.. She whore a veil as she said it was to save her beauty for her husband. I said I think the Hijab was wrong, expecting her to defend it. In...

The picture of the lollipops says 'hijab'; that's just a scarf like the Queen wears. ...but which men and why? It must have started somewhere. All religion is indoctrination.

Some countries have a right not to self incriminate - We lost it here a few years ago. I think it was a step in the wrong direction.
