As long as it's wired correctly as a ring, then that is true.

Internal Wall Vent - Can I remove?

I had one that felt like it let the gales right through the house. I stuck an icecream container in behind the grate to block it 90% - block the gales, but still have _some_ airflow.

    Best way to heat rooms?

Underfloor is great when there are very high ceilings, as the heat starts where it's most needed, rather than travelling to to ceiling and then coming down. And it makes a good combination with some sort of heat pump, as the temperature required is quite a lot lower than with radiators.

So when does the sentence fit the crime?

According to Bush, terrorists wanted to destroy our freedoms. And I'm pretty sure we used to have a lot more of them, so yeah, they won. The way we should have won the War on Terror was so damn easy....simply by not being afraid, and continuing to live our lives as normal.

    Interesting dilemma

Since you're both married, why not suggest a wife swap? Then it's all above board. As the song said, "trust is more important than monogamy".

    Insulation Resistance Sensitive Equipment?

No, but they _are_ a load, so you need to isolate them to get a proper reading. Sensitive equipment usually means surge protectors or neons. Test at 250V first to make sure you've not got any loads left in before retesting at 500V.

    To consent or not

When I was a teen, the rule (not law) was half your age plus 7 years. So 14s together is fine. 18s with 16 is fine. It avoids all the changing boundary conditions when kid turns 18, but gf/bf is under that. Though personally I'd rather just license it. Make sex-ed an exam. Then you...

    Disabled Access

Have you thought about a thinner door so that it won't hit the step? May be cheaper than an extension (if that's the sole reason you want the extension.)

    Ebay Bidding

The term for upping the bid on your own auction by small amounts until you reach, but don't win, the top amount that someone else has is call 'Nibbling'. It's against the ebay TOS, but happens often enough. Yes, sniping is the way to avoid it. A way to stick it to the nibbler is to note...

    More Sh*t Jokes

I think I first heard that one in 1985. Here's another one of similar age. Q. How do you tell a Swede born 9 months after Chernobyl? A. From the blue hair and fair eyes.

My granddad used those sorts of irons to sear off lambs tails. He'd use rubber rings to castrate them though. ...No, I've got no desire to be a farmer, why do you ask?

Cooker & Induction Hob Isolation Switches

Why not just use 16mm cable instead of 10 and 6? Then, if it turns out you need it in future, then you can upgrade the MCB.

Cooker & Induction Hob Isolation Switches

Why do you need separate isolators? Under what circumstances would you need to be using the hob whilst working on the oven (and v.v.)? Or another reason? eg. my grandmother always turned all electrical devices off at the wall switch before going to bed...and unplugged everything before...

    Picture used in advert..

Many cheaper websites are lazy and will reuse images found on the web. The chances of being caught is almost nil vs the cost of doing many photos yourself and trying to get the lighting right or paying a pro to do them or buying a library of stock images. People expect that on websites there...

how do i wire this up???

It's possible - in your case the higher speed is further away from the harmonic frequency. Make sure your fan is well balanced and firmly secured to damp out the vibration.

Low energy bulbs: is the peak cost the initial switching on?

They tested this on mythbusters (And for once, they used a reasonably scientific method!) For an ordinary domestic energy saver bulb, the result was that if you were leaving the room for longer than 30s, then turn it off. OTOH, turning off and on all the time _did_ significantly reduce the...

    Cutting Dado trunking lid

What's the best tool for cutting this stuff? I've had the best success with the main parts by slowly feeding through a table saw, but is there a faster way to chop of pieces of lid? Maybe some kind of guillotine?
