Its actually a 500w pir light but on my house I have the same and its just too bright for what I require so 200w halogen bulb has replaced the 500w....

I used a electrical tester, the earth is hardly a pulse, Ive not tried it in the dark with a plug on but ive left it connected and just went out (now dark) played with the LUX settings still not joy will try it with a plug tomorrow after I finish work...
