    Curious Question on First Fix

Hi Really curious question and I hope someone will be able to answer, I have had the first fix done on my lighting etc and I have lots of 'loops' hanging down, I am guessing that the bottom of the loops will be cut and one end connected to A and one to B, on a circuit I would guess that on each...

    Grid Switch For Ovens Advice

So if I go 4mm Cable > 20A Grid Switch > 13A Fuse (in Grid) > Oven, is that the way to go?

    Grid Switch For Ovens Advice

This is just for isolation, in real terms it will probably never be turned off (dont even know if there is a clock on it tbh). Just concerned about the fuse as its hard wired

    Grid Switch For Ovens Advice

Hi I am thinking about a grid switch solution for my new kitchen but need some clarification on what is needed, there will be among other things, 2 ovens, both 2.9kW, both hardwired and both will have their own circuit. In my mind there will be an RCBO in the consumer unit, cable to the grid...

Marking Metal Back Boxes on Plasterboard

Humidistat Extractor Fans In Kitchen and Utility Rooms - Isolator Needed?

Humidity only. What I think I will do is just get a two pole for the grid (luckily there is space for one) in the kitchen and then get a double pole one for the utility. No space on that grid so will get a new face plate etc which will fit all. Thanks very much

Humidistat Extractor Fans In Kitchen and Utility Rooms - Isolator Needed?

Just thinking about this, I have a grid switch which I can add the extractors to, would this be sufficient? The one in the kitchen I could connect to that so it would be isolated there. It would be great if it was allowed to isolate both from the same switch but if this is not allowed I could...

Humidistat Extractor Fans In Kitchen and Utility Rooms - Isolator Needed?

Hi I'm putting in a couple of extractor fans, one in my Kitchen and one in my Utility Room and need to understand if Isolator switches are required. These are both Humidistat ones so they go on and off on their own, both of these are close to natural light (both from above velux window and from...

    Lighting Circuit Advice

The reason for the dimmer is to get the lighting to a decent level and keep it there, I have a suspicion that when it goes live it will be too bright hence the dimmer. Yes these will be RCBOs What I am trying to understand is the actual cable rules, the way I see it (in my head) is there will...

HI I am planning out the electrics for my extension and need to power the following 1. Main Lights in Kitchen (on a dimmer) 2. Lights in Utility Room 3. Under Plinth Lighting 4. External Lights 1 5. External Lights 2 6. Extractor Fans (1 in Kitchen and 1 in Utility Room) Not too sure how this...

    Kitchen Ventilation/Extraction

No, this one is different, the hob is on the island and the extractor sits behind this. When it needs to be used (ie you are using the hob) it rises out of the island

The thing is actually called a Downdraft Kitchen Island Extractor fan. So yes and no lol

    Kitchen Ventilation/Extraction

Its not a hob hood, we are having a hob on the island with an electrically raised extractor that 'rises' up through the island. Its one of those charcoal ones. I think i have found a half decent one made by Environvent called Silent Design SILDES150HT which has humidistat and timer so i will...

    Kitchen Ventilation/Extraction

Looks like i have two option here 1. Get one that is non white for wall mounting and go direct out but i am now worried that it will be too close to the external patio doors (not too sure if this is an issue but i would guess there is a distance the external venting needs to be from an...

    Kitchen Ventilation/Extraction

I totally get it all really, obvs needs to vent externally BUT was kind of hoping that the expensive one i bought for the island would suffice, there is also windows in there which can be opened and these mahoosive velux windows. All i really need is to find something a little funky looking...

Yeah the utility room, get that, reasonably easy to do that in there Just need a decent wall mounted solution for the kitchen (limited wall space) that looks half decent (not a nasty white one) and i can put it in
