    No more hereditary peers

I'm not entirely sure that I'm happy with the changes to the 2nd chamber in government. Taking away heredity peers satisfies some as they can be seen as privileged and out of touch but have the whole of the second chamber dependant on the wim and wit of one person - the PM is if anything, I...

What have you been doing today?

Please - NO! Especially If you have not been shown (trained) to use one properly and safely as they can be so b****y dangerous. Using one close to the ground can cause the chain to pick up soil and stone shooting it around. Buy a reciprocating saw instead; a bit slower to use but far more...

Where do you put stuff, to be handy?

In the 1980's my then employer issued an edict that all 'squirrel stores' had to cleared from buildings and disposed of appropriately... Less than a year there came a request for numbers of equipment parts to build some test kit, of course by then no one had such components surplus and so the...

Where do you put stuff, to be handy?

Used to have a stack of clear plastic boxes to keep 'stuff' together and out of the way; the boxes finally failed due to UV degradation. Replaced with a home made chest of drawers, the same size as the plastic box stack. Can I find things in there now? Not easily as the wife puts things away...

    Gorton and Denton

I'll be contentious - I'd say you have to have been in full employment or in University education for 2 years before you can vote.

Should there be a general election when Starmer gets booted?

Even if KS managed to negotiate the UK's re-admittance to the EU I believe it wouldn't be on the favourable terms we had. Re-admittance means we would loose the Pound Sterling amongst many other things. Would we get any of the EU bodies back, unlikely. Would we get the EU's Financial Centre...

    Driving licence eye test?

Well my opticians, a small family business, tells me at end of my last 3 eye tests/examination tells me my eyes are good to drive with; he also says if he didn't do he would request my licence and car keys as he wouldn't allow me to drive any more. Certainly gives me the impression he has a...

    French door question.

Looks to me that the window company are expecting you to reuse the existing (concrete?) cill. Think you also need to check the existing opening measurements - both internally and externally. It's possibly to late now but I think you really to discuss the new door fittings with the manufacturers...

    Which paint for putty

Once the putty has 'skinned' then an Oil based primer or undercoat is OK. Once that has cured then any top coat. Linseed oil based paints attract birds I've found.

How’s Rachael from accounts getting on…..

How (are we changing to a more productive and higher skill economy)? To do that we need to reduce the cost of employing people for one. Bring back proper 'Indentured' apprenticeships - to make that more attractive the tax on employing the apprentices should be removed for another.

Should there be a general election when Starmer gets booted?

I do wonder if Starmer resigns who would replace him - I don't see anyone in the present mob who could be effective and less damaging to the national economy. However, calling a general election could (should) lead to a more balanced government.
