    Funerals

I have a life 'insurance' policy taken out when I was aged 21. Costs £38 per year. Told it would mature after 40 years only to find out when I went to claim it was a 60 year policy. So the value tp me is zilch but it will pay for my funeral and have my will annotated as such.

Ladder accessory to allow safely getting on and off house roof.

That is what the 'professionals' (OpenReach and Sky) use or a form of nowadays when climbing ladders up house walls. One or 2 of those is installed into the wall before the operative extends the ladder to full height then the ladder is lashed to the eye in the wall so it cannot slip away from...

Ladder accessory to allow safely getting on and off house roof.

That looks like a 'Vine Eye' to me - totally unsuitable.

Ladder accessory to allow safely getting on and off house roof.

You need a Crawler* to work on the roof. You can (and should) lash the ladder to the crawler if you are inexperienced with using one. * other suppliers exist.

    Post Office and Horizon

I'll put my hand up and apologise for posting what I now know is an erroneous statement - prior to some time in 2023 the IPR was owned by Fujitsu but since that date is owned by the PO - Link. My thoughts are that the Horizon system has now such a bad reputation that Fujitsu cannot license the...

    Post Office and Horizon

Apparently Fujitsu own the IPR and won't release it to the PO.

    Fence & Deck / Boundary?

That does seem to be likely; especially if their neighbours have a fence on their side. And I can see that by removing the original fence they have gained some ground but set up for a difficult discussion. If their neighbours on their side of the boundary between you and them still have their...

Tax free cash ISA allowance to be cut

With a Cash ISA the money you put in is the amount that you 'pay' to the account. With a Stocks & Shares ISA there is a charge to set up or add to the ISA so you are unlikely to return an increase for some time so S&S ISA are definitely a long term investment. There may be charge to take money...

    Fence & Deck / Boundary?

Is odd that their developer didn't fence the back of their property. Or did the developer of your property put a new fence up to 'improve' the looks of your property. As your neighbours property was built first, as you say by some time, it seems to me that they perceive the fence to be theirs...

PCP vs Cash when buying a car question.

Neighbours daughter had a Merc A class on PCP, nearly £300 per month for 47 months. If she wished to buy it the 'balloon' payment was nearly 80% of the new price. Hand it back value, as she had done less, a lot less, than the 8K miles per year allowance was shocking low. She now has an Ecoque...

    Fence & Deck / Boundary?

Me thinks you have a bundle of issues which could be expensive. The rear fence - you say installed as part of the original construction - do you mean the fence was erected when your property was built or the neighbours property to the rear of you. Are your deeds clear on the ownership question...

Please NO, NO, NO!!! Not wanted or needed. Can't we get away from the sport somewhere!!!

Tax free cash ISA allowance to be cut

If Rachel wants people to invest in Stocks and Shares she really needs to explain to people on how it works - Maggie should have done the same. Maybe HMG needs to get Martin Lewis involved to produce a school level lesson/course. Another helper would be to make the first £1000 of dividends Tax...

Miele WT945 - no water going into drum

I'm inclined to think that the flexible pipe from the powder drawer to the drum or the flexible that connects drum to drain has either split of come off the drum. Open the filter door and take the 'filter' out and try letting water into the machine. Does water come out or not. Let us know.

    Sky box loosing connection issue?

And they affect your neighbours WiFi as well. We have a battle with our neighbours over who has the most powerful WiFi - it's that bad it's one of the reasons we are moving.

Miele WT2670 washing machine lost power

May I suggest that with the machine proud of its 'hole' you put your hands on the top R/H side of the machine and pull, not lift, pull towards the left. Yes it is hard but doing that I'm sure you will find the side of the machine will rock, lift sufficient to slide the hardboard under full depth...

Miele WT2670 washing machine lost power

Firstly, as you are discovering Miele's are chuffing 'eavy! So as you have a couple of pieces of thin board you do need to get those under the feet. My thoughts :- get the machine back into it's 'hole' - not all the way but about 2inch proud. One of you tilt the machine to the Left (the whole...

How do i get the perfect drill hole width?

You should never let the inserted plug finish flush with the surface if plastered - it should always be inserted deeper, usually by using a screw or punch (the tip of which is the same size as the plug head) to finish at the brick face. Drill the hole 5 to 10mm deeper than the plug is long. It...

    Bad Customers or good ones?

One comment - if a customer asked to see my suppliers invoices I'd be concerned - unless my supplier supplied a trade and retail invoice as part of their normal trading practise (I'm finding that happens less frequently and I do hold stocks of materials so the replacement costs are likely to be...

    Rejuvenating a flat roof

I used 'Acropol' some years ago on a suspect flat roof - it survived at least 7 years without issue until overlaid with EDPM last year. Unfortunately you have used a Bitumen product which does cause problems with being overlaid with Acropol or similar. I think your quickest/cheapest solution is...
