I have the number of a very good plumber, just wasn't sure if I'd need a drainage guy as well. Thank You!

    Soil pipe collapse (Ed.)

No I have a toilet at the front or I would be in trouble! There is a damp smell but no pong so I think maybe water has been leaking and I've caught it just as it's completely collapsed.

    Soil pipe collapse (Ed.)

The floor under the boards is concrete and the boards are on joists. The rainwater goes down the drain as it's a combined sewer. There are no cracks in the wall but cracking sounds until I stopped using that toilet 4 days ago. I was worried insurance might say the bathroom is old and they...

    Soil pipe collapse (Ed.)

The pipe under my toilet has collapsed and all the water has been flushing under the floorboards without me knowing until the wall started to make cracking noises. (It's a bungalow). Having looked under the manhole there is nothing going down from the rainwater gulley either so I think...

    High pitched ringing on pipes

My neighbour said even with the supply turned off the noise can travel along the pipes from the Toby? Is there something in a Toby that makes a noise? I didn't know it was called Toby. I don't want to call the water company out if I can help it. Thanks.

    High pitched ringing on pipes

Thank you yes sorry I got the name wrong I'm a 67 year old widow. I forgot to say, the ringing is still there with the supply turned off where it enters the property. I don't think it can be a leak between kerb connection and internal stop valve as it's a brand new pipe.

    High pitched ringing on pipes

I have a high pitched ringing on my pipes and wondered if a pressure release valve should have been fitted as standard on my new water supply pipe? Thanks for any replies.

Help with a stopcock which wont budge please

Just going by what a plumber told me when I sprayed it on my washing machine tap. It didn't loosen it either.

Help with a stopcock which wont budge please

That only works on rust. If a plumber needs to be called out they hate it when WD40 has been applied as it makes it slippery to work on.

Help with a stopcock which wont budge please

Turn the one off in the street and call a plumber to the one under the sink because if you break it you've got a flooded house.

Clicking sounds after water pipe leak repair

Yes I already did that and it still does it. I am wondering if it's just the concrete drying out? Don't really want to call plumber back but it's a bit worrying.

Clicking sounds after water pipe leak repair

I recently discovered a pipe in the downstairs loo had been leaking under the floorboards, no idea how long for but it had soaked the concrete. It's been repaired but i now have ticking, popping sounds coming from that area. Is this likely to be the concrete drying or another leak? Thanks in...

    Toilet leaking under floor

Hi, I've just discovered the downstairs loo has been emptying under the floor, no sewage smell but water smell and nothing going into manhole outside!! Should I leave it a week or so before calling the plumber, just so it gives "things" time to dry up a bit? Don't want to make the poor man...

Toilet cistern running and overflow drip on loft tank

It has an internal overflow that runs down the drain but not via the pan, very old toilet. The reason it's running is because it's emptying at the bottom (flapper) and so constantly filling at the inlet. After tying up the ball valve the full cistern emptied after about half an hour. The loft...

Toilet cistern running and overflow drip on loft tank

Thanks, I've now been told that it's possible the constantly running toilet has been forcing water up into the loft tank but I'm not sure. Thanks for your reply, I'll get them both checked tomorrow.
