Unvented Megaflo Cylinder (Solar), why does it have an expansion vessel?

THERE SHOULD NOT BE AN AIR BUBBLE in that cylinder !!!!! Don't keep playing with the PRV, just close it firmly. Set the EV pressure right with hot tap open to release water in EV and all might come good. Or not. The PRV may continue to let by and need replacing. Call in an expert to service...

Cooling the home, are these costs real?

The "portable aircon" has to run at 1kW (approx 26p/kWh) but 24 hours for the full 7 days to get to £43.40 Stupid, stupid ignorant lazy Journalism by an illiterate. OR Arificial Ignorance. NB Those numbers are, BBC states, from USwitch data... so not sure who is the more stupid as neither...

Unvented Megaflo Cylinder (Solar), why does it have an expansion vessel?

Unvented cylinder can have an air bubble to accommodate the HW expansion via air compression ... mine is an OSO brand, Megaflo make them, too. That can also have a separate pressure vessel that does the same via a 'rubber membrane' separator and air pumped into it... In my case OSO say when...

LED Bulbs - Warm Appear Cool White

Utter nonsense. I installed hundreds, if not thousands, of TV studio luminaire using Tungsten Halogen lamps. They were designed to be 3200K at full voltage 240V dimmer 10 and gave circa 2700K at dimmer fader 7 at which the cameras were lined up. I think it allowed +/- 2 stops of light...

    Air con use during winter?

30p / kWh electric with a COP of say 4 = 7.5p/kWh to heat from ASHP Gas at 90% efficient is 6.33/0.9 = 7p/kWh So not a lot cheaper. {Though efficiencies / COP will change as outside temps drop very low}. My 1000 litres of Kerosene is costing 5.3p/kWh at similar 90% should be cheaper still...

    Radiator valve covers/knobs

Other valves in the home may give a clue as to TRV brand used in the home? Remove one from another radiator to check it seems the same and fits, then buy a new head... Although head and valve body can be cheaper in some cases and discard the valve. Smart TRVs sometimes have a selection of...

Low Cold Water Pressure Inside on Unvented Cylinder

@Johntheo Why would the Pressure reducing on Unvented hot water cylinder affect the cold water to anything other than the balanced shower outlet --- balanced tapping has been unused in both homes I have had unvented in (from original new build install)? (It's the blank black cap on that photo...

    Massive headphones - under 20's?

Not for the majority of drivers. https://www.gov.uk/deafness-and-driving Only certain class(es) of Licence need it declaring. (Hearing aid wearer, but not yet deaf) I think some of the yoof wearers in supermarkets and similar crowded spaces are Autistic/ADHD types and it helps with sensory...

    LPG Domestic Storage

Correct. But that won't help when A N Other supplier , to take on the ownership and risk of an existing tank, and their assessments mean they want it to comply with the Current Standards. Which is the OP's situation. Rock and Hard Place.

How to remove mira riser rail , no screws visable

    (y) Press in would have been my next suggestion following that description. Honest, guv! Mira may well have an instruction leaflet for the precise model of shower riser you have installed, if you search their site.

How to remove mira riser rail , no screws visable

They are referred to on the diagram as and need an Allen (hex shaped) key (shown in the picture at the bottom bracket) to insert in hole and find said hex socket to unscrew it. One was probably supplied in the original fixings kit.

    What's changed Astra 28.2

LG are freesat comliant (unlike my Panny OLED). Enigma boxes get the EPG and tuning stuff over the interweb with the right 'images' installed. You may or may not find that works when away caravanning without occasional wifi hotspot use? Good luck with it Enigma may be the way I go if/when my...

    What's changed Astra 28.2

An awful lot of ITV1s and no way to know which is which? How? The $ky 7-day epg is behind their paywall and the freesat one is 'encrypted data' as far as I know. Via the interweb is possible as per Enigma boxes with 'images' and web-scraping of listings sources. That's interesting... how...

    Bigger TV For Above Fireplace

I disagree I reckon it's about the centre of the screen, or a tad higher ideally. I've read that ones gaze is naturally a bit lower than straight ahead. But it is a pretty subjective / personal preference thing. My eye level is almost mantelpiece height and my TV sitting on a cabinet is...
