It was just a tiny one 0.16L I had lying around just to test it out. It’s charged to 3.5bar. If it reduces the noise I’m on the right track when will order a bigger one. I put a gauge on it before the inlet - What was happening it was bouncing from 3-4bar in a sharp spike when a tap closed.

Thanks! Fixed it! Hammer arrestor on the inlet before the ICG. Must be because of the PRV stepping it down from 4 bar to 3 bar was knocking it.

Ok. Just need to do some rerouting of piping. I only asked because putting it before the ICG would have been easier as it’s in a cupboard upstairs - more room!

So I had a brain wave tonight....there's already an arrestor after our water meter into the property.....now I've tried charging this before but I find due to the small 0.16L volume it quickly loses pressure when removing a pump fitting. So I overshot the pressure to take into account the loss...

So back thinking of putting an arrestor on the main inlet or off the balanced connection......ever seen this being done before? Just easier than fitting one to every tap/outlet

Think I fixed it! Strainer had loads of gunk in it! The reason why I never questioned this is I thought it would be the first thing a plumber would have checked and therefore was looking for other problems!

hmmm Here's more info - so if I open another tap even just a trickle and go and open and close another the noise doesn't happen.
