Just asking..... Are you sure that it is the switch at fault? Asking as i was wondering if the capacitor is at fault. I have changed capacitors more frequently (a few times) than switches on lawn mowers. Sfk

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

Also , do you know about stepping the wood studs so the each side of the wall plasterboard is on its own stud? It reduces sound vibrations passing though plasterboard, through stud and into plasterboard on other side by always having a small gap on one side of the stud. See this image...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

It's not just the density. That rock wool I posted is full of solid rock fibres. Each has to vibrate as the sound passes through. That vibration reduces the energy or rather the sound volume. Loft insulation makes air voids to reduce temperature movement. But it is less good than the dense...

    Bodge repair....

I would use 'toupret' or similar filler like this (you add water and then it sets a bit like plaster of paris). Do not add too much water to the filler when mixing it up. Spray/dampen the area before you put the filler in. https://www.toolstation.com/toupret-interior-filler/p63284 or...

How to secure 120cm aluminum framed door in a 126cm gap ??

Many thanks to all. And used the December advice. Used treated wood (25mm by 25mm) that was smaller than gap so could fill the gap with there al expanding foam and then covered with trim. In the end this was the easy part. The scary part was toeing the glass square. With a massive grimace...

Can you put any eye on the joist, take the wire 90deg through this eye, and then have the turnbuckle under the joist. Or rather than 90deg, double back the wire (180deg) and put the turnbuckle on the doublebacked length.

    Electric help please!

The fuse is there to protect the wire - in the case of a problem it hopefully blows before the wire is damaged. The fuse value makes no difference to the normal operation of the hob. The gas hob will work with a 13A or a 5A fuse in the plug. However, In the case of a electrical short in the...

    Electric help please!

It is a gas hob, hence it is low current and does not need to be hard wired. You can put any UK plug onto that cable, and then plug it into a normal socket. The heavy duty plug you have shown will be completely usable (they are most often used on places where a plug might suffer impact damage)...

That one has 4 (internal) contact points for the wires (L, N, Loop, E) But you are correct it is only three external connections (L, N, E) - which is the same as your image. https://www.greenbrook.co.uk/lcgn3pls There is a 4 pole version that is bigger.
