    more insulation on new extension

Hi All I am in the process of getting a new extension built. The plans specified block and brick with 100mm cavity. I asked the builder to reuse some bricks I had - this has resulted in around a 75mm cavity as the bricks are bigger than metric ones and the founds had trench blocks to start...

Adding underfloor heating to existing boiler circuit

I think what I said is right. Google search found the below picture. I just need to have more wiring for the new two port valve I am going to need. Can anyone see a problem having 4 motorised valves on the system wiring?

Using old Engineering bricks for pathway and dwarf wall

Right. The extension is going up using the old bricks. As stated they were originally but using lime. Builder is reusing on cavity wall using sand cement. Will this be OK. I am a bit worried about them cracking in frost etc as water can't escape or am I worrying too much?! Thanks

    Traditional monoblock tap fitting

Hi Family have gone through a few "traditional" mono block taps over the years so looking for a recommendation really. This is the latest. It was wobbling like mad for a while.... A family member has tried to use glue or something to fix this previously (god knows where the original screw...

    Extension using existing outside wall

Yeah. It's a no brainer really if its a new building and it needs a new foundation, I will demolish the lot and rebuild with sand cement and brick (callerton weathered red) that i thought was a good match on my garage...

    Extension using existing outside wall

I am in two minds though as the original bricks have lime render and some pointing that was done in the pas was sand/cement that has blown the bricks so I would probably need to use lime on that side and find someone who knows how to work with it... I think I am right in thinking that a 73mm...

    Extension using existing outside wall

So that means basically knocking down everything and excavating the foundations and building back up? I was wanting to keep the profile as in picture 1 and then build on top of that.

    Extension using existing outside wall

Hi, I am planning an extension to my house that will result in the knocking down of old outside buildings in the courtyard (old o/s toilet and coal store). I did some sketches and now currently have someone finishing the plans (hopefully). The original plan was to knock everything down and...

I mixed it dry and added water at the end. It started to ball a bit so i added water until it was not balling any longer.

    Lime pointing tips....

I have had "a go" at some lime pointing. The previous custodian of the house had at some point had sections of the house, outbuilding and outside walls re-pointed with a sand cement mix. I suspect this is why some of my bricks have blown/ or the cement pointing is loose. Also had some shrubs...
